Great option for a cheap location tracking SIM. I often have to park my car in unsafe & high crime locations. My car has been towed twice (illegally!) while it was legally parked on city streets (shady tow company!), and several car thefts are reported in these areas every month. I have an old iPhone SE that I hook to a USB battery pack and put both in the trunk under the spare tire cover. I can open Find my IPhone on my main phone and see that my car is still where I left it, or where it has gone if stolen or towed. Runs about 10 days on the external battery pack, and uses minimal data. This type of SIM is perfect.
I have this plan. Here are the add-on costs:

$10.00 - 1000 Minutes Top Up
$2.00 - 100 Minutes Top Up
$5.00 - 250 Minutes Top Up
$10.00 - International Add On Credits

$5.00 - 250 Messages Top Up
$2.00 - 100 Messages Top Up

$10.00 - 1 GB Data Top Up
$15.00 - 2 GB Data Top Up
$2.00 - 100 MB Data Top Up
$5.00 - 250 MB Data Top Up
Any phone is an emergency phone, they all dial 911.

I have like 8 months left on the plan can I buy this now and save it for next time?
No (30 days to use the code?), and there's no real reason to buy early as this has been the regular price for months already. No reason not to think it won't be around this price in 8 months too.

The VOIP services don't have access to short codes. It prevents account verification for services that SMS you when you sign up/log in. Some companies only have sms based 2FA. I once had this problem with Republic Wireless, but it has since been fixed.
That's correct, TextNow and many other voice over IP apps and services will not work with two factor authentication. I figured if people are interested in a $10 SIM that only does text and phone calls for free, with data sold separately by the GB from Textnow, well they are probably not using the phone for a bunch of apps. Red Pocket is really good for the money though. Have two relatives who are on their second year with Red Pocket and it's been really reliable experience for them.

Depends if you need the texts or not. That's also a pretty rare deal. At $35 it's also a better deal, but...

It just resets every month, every month I see it as expiring next month

There's 911 emergencies and there's Mommy/Daddy... emergencies. We use this plan for our kids "emergency" phone. Has worked well so far.
Who has poor english skills now? Emergency is 911. Kids calling mommy to come pick them up is a kids phone. Calling it emergency shows you don't understand what that word means.

Yes, you can obtain a phone number upon activation, and based on your message, our GSMT network sounds like the way to go here.
My phone had a bad signal with Sprint, and even worse with T-mobile in my office building.
Does Red Pocket use T-mobile or Sprint tower? If yes, I don't need to consider it.
If no, I would like to take a try. I guess I can add this Red Pocket sim card with my current T-mobile sim card together in my two sim-card slots S21 Ultra, right?

You're talking "emergency" too literal. You're not going to call 911 if your car breaks down in the boonies and the battery just died in regular phone,.. or say if you run out of Oreo's and need to call the wife while she's at the store because you left your other phone in the car. Big Grin

They use Verizon and AT&T too.

This is the type of service I imagine a hitman or dealer using, someone who just needs to make a phone call or too and then destroy the phone alone with the evidence. Good deal if that's your line of work.
There are cheaper prepaid plan for such purpose. Normal hit job takes less than a month to coordinate so a 360 day plan is overkill unless the toy you are getting are stuck either at the California international seaport because of the pandemic, or at the Suez canal and the whole plan is postponed because of the delivery delay.
