Tempting but I'm satisfied with my R1
My R3 is still going strong. The R7 is tempting but then the Radenso Theia, I hope, will be out this year so I'll wait.

They were promising the Theia would be out last year. They're saying the price will be between $750-1000. That's too rich for my blood. Plus their previous models look so cheap.

The fark are you talking about "beginner" radar detector.

This isn't a skill or hobby. Get the best you can afford.
I meant in terms of all the different functions it can provide . I'm more of a plug and play type of person

Learning all the settings is a pain, but plug-and-play would be worse. With a good detector, you can configure them how you like to minimize falses for the types of radar used in your area. And having GPS built in is very handy for speed-based alert control and warnings for red light cameras.

Have the R3, the false positives are annoying.

Waiting for the Radenso; if you haven't heard of it look it up.

I had a V1 for over a decade. Two years ago I bought the R3 and I've been very happy with it after making a few changes to the programming. For me, it makes no financial sense to get an R7 but if I was in the market, the R7 would be my choice. I hard wired the R3 into the mirror of my BMW m235 and two weeks ago I traded that for a Kia Telluride and I hard wired it into that as well. I just mounted it as high as it would go on the windshield in front of the visor and so far I'm happy.

Police don't use X and K band in some areas. If you disable those, you'll virtually eliminate false positives.

This ^. Same thing. Sold my V1 and never looked back.

If I didn't have the R3, I would absolutely spend the extra for the R7. Having the arrows is great when you need to know if you're being tailed by a highway patrol, or coming up on one (in areas where they run with radar constantly on while driving). There are other ways to figure it out, but not with certainty.

Valentine slowed down the radar detector industry by not releasing their patent for arrows for something like 15 years. you can than Valentine for $300-500 radar detectors when there was no competition.

This is extremely good! Has paid for itself many times over. I had lots of falls alerts but enabled Quiet Ride for K band, reduced K band sensitivity to minimum, and leave in Advanced mode. In South Florida at least, Ka band is the one to watch out for.
