anyone upgrading to this over the R3?
I am taking the plunge. It looks like my existing mount and cables will work with it. I didn't need to upgrade, but I did. I'll sell my old detector to recoup some of the cost.

I have an R3 with a Blendmount. Got it when the R7 first came out and was ridiculously expensive. Now that the R7 price is reasonable, I'm really tempted.

Anyways. I noticed that Blendmount makes an "Upgrade Clip" to convert the R3 Blendmount to an R7. Which is cheaper than buying a brand new mount for the R7.

Buddy, i had the R3 and just moved to the R7 and it is so nice to know what direction the signals is coming from. I cannot go back to the R3.

So pissed I got sold on this here to replace my 9500ix blue. This goes off for virtually every possible false alert there is.
This does nothing more that my passport did and has less functionality. Supposedly better range, but I already got more than enough range from the passport. Highly suggest getting one of them off eBay if it's your first detector.

How are all those updates coming that were promised 16 months ago?
You know, the stuff my 9500ix had several years ago....automatic lockout of repeat falses, shared community GPS lockouts?

I did, several months ago when the R7 started dropping below $400. Recouped about half the price selling my R3 on ebay.

Yes. I wanted arrows.

The new firmware is nice too, I'm going to try and update over the weekend. Auto-lockout won't be coming to the R3, only the R7 (and probably new releases going forward).

I did the same thing. Sold my r3 for 250. The R7 is so much better then the R3. The difference is more than just the arrows. Gives you so much more situational awareness. With the latest update, it runs super quiet. Auto lock out is not available for the R3. I got a 16dollar mirror mount on amazon for the r3 and the R7 fits perfectly. Old R3 hardwire harness works well too with the remote mute.

Funny how they are coping the valentine1 radar.
Can't beat them copy them
😃
Well they copied the best of every detector out there and made a better detector than most of them at a better price. Feel free to still pay more for the v1 though.

Also thanks to this detector and other competitors the v1 finally created a new gen that doesn't look like it was still stuck in the 70s

Already did a custom install with remote mute. Was gonna sell and put the 9500ix back, but company promised firmware updates since August 2019.

In for one. almost pulled the trigger on r3 last night but comments swayed me toward this one with the arrows. Just concerned it might be annoying. I hate beeps, tweets, and...jeeps.

Hard disagree on the best bang for the buck. Uniden R3 is $250 and has basically the same performance. This is more than 50% extra for rear arrows and auto lockouts which are nice to have for direction awareness and less work to filter out falses, but, in the end, R3 will protect you as well as R7.

And? R3 and R7 have the same performance on 34.7 and 35.5, while R7 is 19.5% stronger on 33.8 (R3 is still the second best performing detector on 33.8 band and provides plenty of detection range): https://www.vortexradar.com/2019/...-pro-m-v1/

R7 is a stronger detector but is not best bang for the buck.

in for one. Having a v1 for over 15 yrs, cant go without the arrows. I suggest anyone in the market for a radar detector, don't cheap out and get one without arrows.

speeding ticket = $400+ each time

Top of the line radar detector = $400 - $500 one time purchase

you do the math.
