The Sapphire Preferred is only a 25% bonus when redeemed for travel. So $1000 only when redeemed for travel using the Chase portal.

The Sapphire Reserve is the one that has a 50% bonus. But that bonus is only worth $600 x 1.5 = $900. And again, that's only if redeemed for travel or using Pay Yourself Back, which is scheduled to stop at the end of April.
ok, so I have 183k points in chase right now. I signed up for the CSR a few years ago for the 100k bonus and bought some plane tickets, but have let most of the points just sit. I've since switched the CSR to the unlimited, I think in Nov 2017.
I'm looking at my options.
1. Sign up for CSP and pay myself back for $3296 ((183,685+80,000)*.0125)
2. Sign up for CSR and pay myself back for $3655 ((183,685+60,000)*.0150)
3. Keep waiting and use them for a big trip later on

Thoughts?

Edit: I received the 100k points the last time for the CSR in Jan of 2017, so I think I can get these points again.

does anyone know, if i have met the spending requirement but subsequently received refunds so i fell below the minimum purchases, however the ultimate reward portal still shows that "congrats you did it, bonus pts will be added in your next statement"

do you think i will still receive the bonus points, or i should charge my card more before the spending period to get the net spending up to the minimum level?

pls advise.

Thanks!!!
Always spend enough to meet the requirement. Even if you received the bonus and it's beyond 3 months, make up the difference if you get a refund.

The referral link for friends - i tried my link but it takes my friend to the 60K point listing.

I am wondering if the referral links will be updated

I sent a referral link to someone for a CSP but it is still for 60K points rather than the current 80K. No point at this time for the recipient to use a referral link. Hope that Chase updates their refer a friend bonus soon.

If you're going the PYB route, you should do it quickly as PYB will be ending at the end of April. It'll take at least a month for your bonus points to post.

yeah, I would likely downgrade to a card with no annual fee before the year is up, like I did previously

Yes, you can get the secret Chase Sapphire card which has no AF ever and is the nerfed version of CSP.

Don't be that guy, spend the requirement and earn it. Abuse like that will just push them to lower the offer or delay paying out the bonus.

Negligible.

$300 travel credit that can be used on groceries and gas until June.
$60 Door Dash Credit
Another $300 travel credit next year right before you cancel/downgrade (double dip).
