ok, so I have 183k points in chase right now. I signed up for the CSR a few years ago for the 100k bonus and bought some plane tickets, but have let most of the points just sit. I've since switched the CSR to the unlimited, I think in Nov 2017.
I'm looking at my options.
1. Sign up for CSP and pay myself back for $3296 ((183,685+80,000)*.0125)
2. Sign up for CSR and pay myself back for $3655 ((183,685+60,000)*.0150)
3. Keep waiting and use them for a big trip later on

Thoughts?

Edit: I received the 100k points the last time for the CSR in Jan of 2017, so I think I can get these points again.
I was in the same situation but then realize I can apply for CSP get 80K points and then my wife can apply for CSR and transfer all the points to CSR. Hopefully CSR will come with better offer soon.

oh no. i just applied yesterday, Any way to get to this offer?

I called them with a similar situation (applied on the 16th). The first tier support was no help and told me a supervisor would not help either.

I kindly explained to the supervisor my situation. She said I have to spend the $4k and then call back for escalation. Technically am outside eligibility, but only by one day.

Tldr: call and be kind. Good luck.

I opened Sapphire Reserve in 2019. Have lot of points on it so instead of canceling, I downgraded it in 2020 to no-fee version.

Do I have to cancel it to sign up for new offer? How long do I have to wait?
What's the best option for points on it. I think there is something special about these points. That's why I did not cancel the card in 2020.
Chase makes you wait 48 months from your last earning of a welcome offer for Sapphire cards. If you are trying to maximize points, transfer them to Chases travel partners.

I currently have a Sapphire Reserve. My annual fee kicked in early Feb. I'm thinking about product changing to a freedom and then applying for the Preferred. Anyone know what the rule is regarding refunds of Annual Fee. Read some where that it's 30 days. Anyone know if it's actually longer than that?
Try calling Chase and getting their retention line. They are usually pretty good about offering you something to keep you if you explain that you didn't feel like you got $550 of value out of it and are going to close the account.

You are absolutely right, but positive feedback regarding past bonuses paid is a good sign. I didnt have a way to get paid to apply any other way, so I was willing to take the $0.99 risk.
Can you send me the person you bought it from?

Don't be that guy, spend the requirement and earn it. Abuse like that will just push them to lower the offer or delay paying out the bonus.
Thanks i wasnt planning to abuse it, the merchant decided to refund me and put it back on my card. now i'm struggling to find something else to spend on....

i almost wish they didnt refund me LOL

I mean do you really want to risk it? They have been known to claw back points if you buy a lot, get the points, and then get a refund on a lot of your purchases. Maybe things would be different if it was a few bucks but personally I wouldn't risk it.
thanks it was an unexpected refund.... i'll find something to spend.. maybe a vacation package... LOL

Always spend enough to meet the requirement. Even if you received the bonus and it's beyond 3 months, make up the difference if you get a refund.
Thanks, so do u think if the refund was posted within the 3 months, do i need to make up the difference within the 3 months or afterward is ok?

or did you mean that the refunds occurred after the bonus points are posted, and still make up the difference anwaysy after 3 months?

tomorrow is my 90th day from account opening, the refund is posted, and i need more time to spend the remaining amount....

GEICO is not sending me the bill despite my renewal is up at the end of next month. i cnat even prepay it.

arhhhhhhhh

It's not longer than that. You can still downgrade and get a pro-rated refund.
Ok thanks. I also received a $100 retention bonus (statement credit). If I downgrade, will Chase claw back that retention bonus?

The unofficial bonus spending period is 115 days. It would be best practice to get it done within that period.

easy way to reach the limit is to just pay off your bills and then if you still need to spend to reach the 4k, buy gift cards. I shop at Costco often so the cash cards are basically cash anyways.

Haven't seen any DPs of that happening, just don't be surprised if they do though.

No, officially it's 90 days, and that's reflected in the bonus tracker. 115 has always been an unofficial answer. People have been getting their bonuses even after 90 days but before 115. You can't really complain if you fail to meet the 90 day threshold though. In the case of getting a refund, just re-spend the amount and you shouldn't have any issues.

I'm not even sure I'm under 5/24.... any exceptions to that rule these days? Even so, I know the second I apply for this the CSR will go back to 100k offer lol
