FYI. I downgraded my Sapphire Reserve on Wednesday and lower credit limits across my other Chase cards. This morning I applied for the Sapphire Preferred and was approved. I also see the bonus counter so I'm eligible for that as well.

Anyone know if I'll have any issues upgrading to a Reserve once I get my 80,000 point bonus or do I have to wait a year?

What did you downgrade your CSR to?

Contemplating doing that, $450 annual fee would be a big hit for me.

Because if redeeming in the portal or via PYB, the points are worth 1.25 cents with a CSP, but 1.5 cents with a CSR. Makes perfect sense.
i understand that but to me with CSR point values are (1.5 x 600 = 900) and CSP point values are (1.25 x 800 = 1000). That person has CSR point value as 1000 and CSP point value as 800.

You're only supposed to have one Sapphire product at once. If I kept my CSR, I wouldn't have been able to get the CSP.

I apologize since I'm sure someone asked this already in this thread, but if someone could be so kind...I opened my original card back in 2016, but closed at the end of 2017.

Is the 48 months based off when you opened or closed the card?

The 48 months is based on when your signup bonus was given to you. Not the day you were approved or closed your account.

From the offer page:

"This product is available to you if you do not have any Sapphire card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for any Sapphire card in the past 48 months."

Chase Sapphire Reserve has $550 annual fee - which negates the $1000 earned in points - Chase Sapphire Preferred is a way better deal
CSR comes with an impossibly easy to use $300 "travel" credit. Which brings the AF down to $250. Along with a bunch of other credits, some temporary & some permanent, that can cancel out the AF. But if you can't use those credits then sure the CSP is the better option. Especially for folks new to travel rewards cards.

I think I'm more alarmed that your car insurance premium is $3400. Are you insuring a household of teenagers on a fleet of exotic cars?! 😳
Ours is over $2k and we have a 4 year old SUV and a minivan in semi-rural CT with basically no accidents or tickets (and only 2 drivers), excellent credit (800+ each of us) so yeah it's YMMV.

I am trying to call chase reconsideration line at 888-270-2127 but I get a message that offices are currently closed. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

I didn't enter my social and I was able to speak to an agent. Maybe since the application is being processed, they automatically route my call to "offices closed" message after I enter my social.
