The day before the $95 is due. Showing up for payment is not the last day. I wait for the day before payment is due to cancel.

Depending on your cc billing date, usually it's the same month the card showed up in your account.

Based on the language, if I applied and got approved for the card, I'm eligible for the bonus, correct?

That's a good idea. I can just have my wife get the csr. Too bad she couldn't transfer her points to me though
you CAN. my wife has been transferring her URs from her CSP to my CSR for last few years. to benefit from 1.5x redeem rate of CSR vs 1.25 of CSP.

i have crossed 48 months since I earned that 100k CSR offer... so, i AM eligible for this new bonus. i plan to cancel my CSR to get this 80k CSP offer.

But, is there any cool-off period? How many days do I need to (or should) wait after cancelling my CSR?

Don't cancel the card, just downgrade. You can apply for CSP after downgrading the CSR to a Chase Freedom or Chase Freedom Unlimited ( both have no annual fees, just call and request) after 4 days. So if you downgrade on 3/30, you can apply for the CSP on the 4th.

If I earned the bonus on my feb 2017 statement, I'm in the clear now, right?

I already have freedom. I don't WANT TO get freedom unltd, if I don't have to. So any risks if I cancel CSR and then apply for CSP after four days? I have to wait for four days?

You can get another regular flavor freedom. It's unavailable to sign up for, but still available to downgrade, even if you already have it. I have 3, I max out the bonus categories when its groceries, etc.
And risk wise, it would be just your overall CL drops, affecting your ratio, and a closed account on your report when you apply again. Will it affect your chances? Depends on your other variables, but most likely no, as you've had the card for quite some time, it usually only plays a factor if other things are already iffy and you close right after the end of the first year.

And yeah, if you apply before 4 days, you will be denied. Lots of DPs on churning and flyertalk

If you just cancel, you won't get a pro-rated AF back. If you are near your AF renewal, that may not matter to you.

For me it meant a $180 refund, so I downgraded to Freedom Unl. to get that. They apply the credit on to the downgraded card.

This is what the Chase rep on the phone told me. Hopefully they didn't lie to me. I didn't really want the card either.

Has anyone who has had a Sapphire card in the past able to apply in-branch and get the AF waived? I went last week and the CSP card would not show up in my profile as an option to apply for and I was told it was because I had the CSR in the past (opened 4 years ago, closed 2 years ago) and I would have to apply on-line. Hoping they fixed it in their system and I can apply in-branch now.....??

As discussed many times, it's not about when you closed any Sapphire card. It's more about when the last time you received the bonus points.

Thus, if you opened the last Sapphire card 4 years ago, but received the last bonus points 3 years and 9 months ago, you will NOT qualify.
