I currently have a Sapphire card that was opened years ago. I would have to cancel that card and wait how long before signing up for this card in order to get the bonus points?

Annual fee waved in Branch. It's actually in their offer fine print. Easy peasy. Thanks to all the kind people that posted the info. Repped.

A month if you cancel, or ~ 5 days if you downgrade it to a Freedom-series card instead.

I was told by 3 different phone reps that I am NOT allowed to upgrade a Preferred card to Reserve within the first year of getting the card.
So that means if I want to go back to Reserve within the year, I'll have to downgrade or cancel the Preferred card, and re-apply for a Reserve card.
Anyone else had a different experience? i.e. was able to upgrade Preferred to Reserve within first year?
thanks

So while you cannot get a sapphire bonus unless it has been 48 months since your last one, I always thought that there was a two year period between sapphire cards. So if I got the preferred today, couldn't get a reserve until 4/7/2023 (mind you without bonus).

This is assuming that you got your bonus points more than 48 months ago.

I think I got it when Chase first offered the Sapphire line. I cancelled the CSP card after getting the 500/500 offer to avoid the annual fee. If I call Chase, they should know when I last cancel the card and got the bonus, right?

They normally don't change product in first year....I had accidentally applied for reserve credit card...called within few minutes...they didn't change...only thing they offered was to cancel....

You need to wait 13 months from getting your Preferred to change to the Reserve.

Is your last sentence implying you would apply for a Reserve in two years after getting the Preferred now? That's not possible. You can only have one Sapphire card at any time.

You could product change from the Preferred to Reserve after 13 months.
