If you downgrade to a free card within 30 days of the fee posting, they refund it in full.
And why would the AF post before the annual due date?
I don't need it right away so I let it do the snail Mail instead of expedited. Good luck!
Call chase card services and see if they'll honor the sign up. They're usually pretty accommodating especially if it's just a few days and you haven't activated your card yet.

I tried to double dip with referral , but was told cannot add in the application on there end and applying via link.
