Can't use this card to pay mortgage payments. Any Ideas spending $4000 in next 1 and half months. Some where I read about purchasing pin enabled gift cards and buy Money order using this gift card to deposit in bank.

Any other suggestions.

Thanks

I have big home remodeling project coming and lot of material to buy. it will be easily 4k in a month. only way to get waiver on annual fee is through applying at bank location? I would have no use after 1st year once i get bonus as dont want to pay annual fees. if i close the account will it put too much ding on credit?

do you have to specifically make an appointment to go apply or walk in are ok too. and then tell them to waive 95$ fees or they do it automatically?

so ive been telling all my friends to go into the branch to save on the $95 dollars

but it looks like its a better deal to refer them since i get 15k points and i can just pay them the 95 dollars... and looks like i come up with 55 more dollars and in points which i find more valuable

any errors in my train of thought?

After a year you can just downgrade to one of the useful no annual fee cards (freedom being the most useful if you're someone who doesn't travel significantly)

You may be able to pre-pay utilities. I've paid extra (about 1 year in advance) to Nicor for this kind of thing, but Comed doesn't let me pick an amount higher than my bill. I paid a few months ahead on Comcast when Discover or Chase had them in a qualifying 5% category. It just depends on the company, it may or may not work for you.

His site is BS points value. He inflates the value so people apply the card through his links and he can make good referral commissions.

The max value of Chase Ultimate Rewards is 1.25 cents per points, period.
All of the valuations and methodology are pretty transparent on how he comes up with them. The best use cases are if you book hotel rooms at certain premium brands- using points can net you a 3 to 5 cent valuation. Maybe take more than 40 seconds to look at math to see if the valuation makes sense for your situation or not.

If I apply in the bank branch, can I use a referral link from my relative?

I went to the branch, asked them if the annual fee is in fact waived and once confirmed, was able to sit with a banker, who used my Chase bank account information to submit the application form on my behalf.

Just Applied, in 2 minutes got approval for around 20K. Will have the card in few days.

"You have been approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card. You will receive your new card, a paper copy of your Cardmember Agreement and other important disclosures in 3 to 5 business days" Any one gotten the annual fee waived by calling in?

It's probably different based the person, but for me, I've been able to get about 3.2% redemption value by using them for free flights by transferring them to Air France for free flights to Europe and Hawaii.

even though it is not the best use of points as they do not count towards companion pass, it works out well if you already have it as then you get two tickets for the price of one.
