Edit: keep memory at 8gb and buy a stick after. Upgrade cpu cooling to liquid cooling for the extra $49, worth it to keep the cpu temps down, and basically the same cost as buying an AIO after.

You cannot use stock CPU air cooling, it is overheating constantly. So go with liquid cooling or if for some reason you want air cooling - be ready to replace stock cooler. Options for the cooler are very limited, there is no enough height inside, maximum is 65mm, but better to install something around 60mm. Scythe Shuriken 2 low profile works good, but to mount it you will need 4 screws M3 20mm, because standard cooler screws are too thick. Another possible option is "Cooler Master GeminII M5", but to install it you have to extract motherboard from the case and also your memory slots will be completely covered by the cooler.

Stay far far away! Seriously though, like others have said... the inside is just so tight that there is atrocious airflow.

I wanted one for 25 years and returned it last December, three days after owning it.

Everything you said. The specs are awesome with impossible to find parts but design is terrible from the research I've done since I'm buying a new computer in the next week.

Anyone know if a Ryzen 7 1800X would work in this?

Curious about swapping the CPU and GPU with my current 1800X/GTX 1080 build. (Would need to upgrade old mobo for the 5600X but I'm ok with that).

Maybe if you scalp the video card on Ebay for 1500, it might be worth it.

What is with the Alienware hate all of a sudden? I agree with comments relative to amd gpu/cpu concerns. Alienware should have kept their Aurora design instead of this thing. However, overall, they have built some pretty good products and support unlike other companies is pretty good. I would take this over an HP any day...

No hate, it works, but R10 should have much better stock air cooler, because current one is just plain shameful garbage.

The first few comments are always negative. I use Alienware for Photoshop and Lightroom, processing thousands of images. They're stable, never blue screen or freeze, and are dependable.

Why would they not put an SSD in this? And why 1000 watt power supply? Doesnt seem worth it to me.

I've had my R10 for a month and love it. Got a 5800x/3080/16GB RAM/1TB SSD/liquid cooling/Wifi 6 build for $2077 before taxes. I mostly use it for gaming and multitasking and get good temps and incredible gaming performance.

What AMD CPU/GPU concerns? The 6800XT is the fastest of the offered Graphics cards for this model and the 5600X is one of the fastest CPU's for gaming.
