- filter might last longer than indicated due to my smaller room sizes, less frequent use, etc.
- the machine might break before then
- I might not remember that I have bought these extra filters 2 years from now
- Saving $10 over the span of 2 years of not using it is not exactly worth it. If it's for immediate use, I'd jump on it right away.

No, the C535 uses a different filter which is larger so these will not work on a 535.

I did the same. I personally would wait. There are too many variables to consider to make this worth it:

I bought those (or similar) last year when Costco was out of the Winix filters. They seem to work fine however one of my purifiers is saying the filter needs to be replaced after only 3 months. I don't know if it's the filter or I just had a very dirty 3 months, but I'm stocking up on the Costco filters now.
I did extensive research and there so many conflicting reports, some have ozone issues, some have high cost filters, some its hard to find filters, permanent filters etc. etc., - way to confusing...
I just need a simple good quality air purifier....
Thank in advance!
do you guys recommend Winix C545? (i see the that plasmawave can be turned off and to stop ozone emission)

You can turn the plasmawave aka ozone generater on / off. There is a switch on the c545
