Nope, not discontinued. Just a confusing product line. The "shapes" line has different shapes that can be interconnected. The "rhythm" line is just the triangles. Shapes cannot connect to Rhythm, and vice versa. You'll have to do your homework to see which ones you want.
Personally, I opted for the Rhythm Starter Kits as I prefer them.
I got three kits from them. I'd be tempted to go the Costco route for the extra ten bucks just for their return/warranty policies.
BTW, love these things. Always wanted some and glad I purchased.
Manufacturer says there's a limit of 30 nodes per power adapter. I have 31 and it works fine, but guessing I can't do much more.
In my first purchase, I accidentally got a "shapes" set, which wasn't what I was expecting. I then got a "rhythm" set and, before returning the shapes set, had them both at the same time to compare. The triangles/rhythm set is far brighter and more even color spread. The limitation is being all one shape and size, but I prefer them. Attached is the "sheriff's star" I made with mine. Notice the gap I have on the right side, when I finally made it all the way around. This annoys me to no end, but not much I can do about it. Starting over is not an option as it would tear the hell out of my wall. I'll live with it.
One note about the Rhythm Starter Kit. Each kit comes with everything you need: Nanoleaf nodes, connectors, power adapter, 3M adhesive strips, triangle template cutouts, and the rhythm adapter. I have three 9-piece kits and a 3-node expansion, thus I have two extra power adapters and rhythm modules that I won't ever need.
Note that the rhythm adapter is just a small node that you plug into one of the connector slots. When you choose a rhythm scene from the app, it will light up according to the sound it hears. Works okay, but not something I use regularly.
Happy to answer any questions. I should make some notes about installing and the double-sided tape. I started cutting them in half as a whole strip in each corner is way too much. I could go on.
Anyway, very happy with them. You'll like whichever set you get.

Are these discontinued? I see a new line called Nanoleaf Shapes is their more recent line. Just don't want it to be hard to get more packs soon.

Yup. I just spent wayyyy too much on lights lol. Got one rhythm set and not saying how many expansions I purchased. Also, even though the canvas are newer, the triangles are brighter and don't have an annoying cross/x in the middle of them like the canvas do.

If you don't need the power/receiver you can save $30 by purchasing 3 expansion packs.
