Great price. Bought one from dwr last year. If you are looking for the classic look, you will need to purchase the black MCL leather from dwr. If you're also over 6ft tall, you need the tall version. This is the full grain leather, standard height
It's an iconic chair that is obscenely expensive for what it is. I bought mine lightly used off craigslist for 2250. I recommend shopping around first.

I still feel regret for spending that much lol.
Sales man slaps chair, "Molded Plywood Technology."

Can someone explain me why this chair and Ottoman is worth 4.5k?
If you would like a history lesson, this might be a goos start: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/E...unge_Chair

The main bulletpoints on why this is a +$5K chair are:
* Original Midcentury Modern American design icon by de facto designers (Eames)
* Manufactured by licensed partner to original designer's specifications. Knockoffs usually have some slight differences to ease production, but the Eameses were quite deliberate in their design choices, and that typically leads to a worse user experience
* Costly materials and production process
* Made in USA (i think)

Sometimes I can't tell the difference between trolling and actually slick deal. I like my HM Embody I got for ~900, which is crazy expensive but also worth it at that price. This, I don't get it. Is it actually worth 4500?

They have a big factory in Dongguan China now, so probably there if it's a Costco deal. OTOH Dongguan China is known as the furniture capital of the world, so it's probably equal or better quality given HM's brand image and price point.

So I actually own a "Replica Eames". I'm a person that values quality and was willing to shell out the money for a HM Eames chair. Just for kicks, I bought one for $550 from an eBay seller that offered free returns, just to try it out.

It was Manufactured in China, but shipped from NJ and delivered in 3 days. Setup was not quite as easy as a HM Eames would be, it took me about 90 minutes. But I have to say, I was shocked at the quality. It's damn near the exact same chair. Still buttery soft leather, molded plywood, and the same comfort as the HM model. I kept the replica and use it daily with no issues.

If you shop around and buy a quality replica, you'll forget that the HM logo is missing.

Anyone have any recommendations on a quality, comfortable replica? Love the style of the Eames but just can't stomach this much for a chair - it's as much as the quote I have to paint my house!

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned an eBay seller that no longer carries them, and there's so many crap versions out there, it seems like just picking one and hoping it's good isn't likely to have good results. Any recommendations?
I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that Yadea seemed to have the most positive reviews for replicas. The dimensions are the exact same and a lot of people stated really good things about the quality (even comparing to the real thing). I never did bite the bullet on the replica (just couldn't justify the price without trying), but a lot of people have done group buys on Reddit with Yadea - just do a search and you can see what people said about them. They are pricey for replicas ($1200), but seem to be closest to real thing (for a replica)

I've been trying to figure this out too. Is it Vincenzia, or a higher all grain? Retail is $5499, $5999 or $6499 depending on the leather.

Also, isn't this lifetime returns? Or just 90 days like in the post here?
HM sold at Costco is gray market from the research I had some. Probably only 90 days costco, not fully recognized by HM, but most people wont need to test that due to the quality.

For the Vincenzia, I don't think it's worth it. It's the lowest quality and you can get it near the same price from a dealer. I the next higher tiers would be Geiger's Bristol leather or MCL. No one can guess what it would be. Those will be worth it though.

Embody for $900 is a good deal. If I wore Patagonia vests to work I'd probably get one.
