Great price. Bought one from dwr last year. If you are looking for the classic look, you will need to purchase the black MCL leather from dwr. If you're also over 6ft tall, you need the tall version. This is the full grain leather, standard height
It's an iconic chair that is obscenely expensive for what it is. I bought mine lightly used off craigslist for 2250. I recommend shopping around first.

I still feel regret for spending that much lol.
Sales man slaps chair, "Molded Plywood Technology."

The sales guy at Costco will also ask you if you have a trade in and will try to sell you the Premium package as well, right before drawing a four-square on his notepad.

I paid $2200 for a new set about 15 years ago. It's great.

They've had this at Costco before and it was cheaper but it's been a few years:

For $4500 shouldn't it be crafted of real wood and not covered in a veneer?
It's still real wood, but plywood is constructed out of wood veneers. Every layer might be walnut, but since the inner plies are purely structural, lower cost wood species are typically used for those to reduce the overall cost.

HAHAHA...

amazing, been making the same plywood chair for a billion years and the price only goes up.

Plenty of high quality knockoffs for sub 800.

I've been trying to figure this out too. Is it Vincenzia, or a higher all grain? Retail is $5499, $5999 or $6499 depending on the leather.

Also, isn't this lifetime returns? Or just 90 days like in the post here?
They probably mean "All Grain Leather" - not "top"

All Grain is a premium leather from U.S. producer Edelman Leather. It features a supple and soft texture yet is durable enough for demanding use. The surface bears a small pebble-grain texture and receives a special stain-release coating. All Grain is Greenguard air-quality certified.

Also important to note - this is grain corrected leather. The leather will look uniform as opposed to natural leather (which is not grain corrected)

My recommendation is to order via a dealer and get the MCL leather. It looks much more natural - it's not grain corrected leather.

You may need to revisit your definition of the word "only."

...this doesn't make any sense...

Is the chair covered in saw dust when you receive it?

Do you plan on sawing it in half?

If not, you're probably OK.

MCL leather is a better looking and cheaper leather. I'd avoid the All Grain. It's grain corrected leather. Order via a dealer instead with MCL.

I'm surprised to see that there are SD users who buy $6000 chairs, and even more surprised this made FP. To each his own, I suppose.

i bought this chair second hand for 900 from some dude who didnt know the value they hold. they do hold value because the msrp is constantly going up. he gave me the receipt and it shows he paid 3239 in 2008 as well as the certificate of authenticity. it would be relatively difficult to find a second hand one for less than 3000.
