"I just completed a compare of both the X60's (TP-Link) and AX4200 (Linksys) Mesh systems. I am running six X60 hardwired nodes (2 sets) across my home and detached garage and have gigabit service and 75 total devices with multiple iPhone 11's and 12's. I am getting between 850mbps and 950mbps wired and around 500mbps wireless for many devices within decent range of an X60 node. My slowest connections are around 200mbps which is still very good from my experience.
Because I am never one to leave well enough alone, and based on the fact the Velop AX4200 is tri-band with solid reviews etc, I ordered two sets and have been playing with them the last two days. For my situation I am not getting anywhere near the Wi-Fi speeds on the Velop system I was getting from the the X60. This is based on identical placement as four of the X60's and using the same ethernet backhaul. Where I was getting wifi speeds of 500mb/s+ with the X60 I am getting around 200 mb/s with the Velop. I have tried all sorts of configurations with changes to client steering, node steering, DNS etc. I have read multiple threads on the Linksys forums exploring other settings.
A few things I like better about the Velops include the presence of a decent web ui, more ethernet ports per node and more config settings. I should note that for wired connections I see roughly the same speeds with both systems but my ping speeds are slightly worse with the Velop.
I will keep tinkering to see if I can get better speeds from the Velop but at this point I am likely to go back to the X60 system as it simply worked, was stable, fast, integrated antivirus and with the 2 extra nodes, I can expand coverage as an added bonus. As is always the case, your mileage may very as it appears the Velop is working nicely for others."
