I fish, but I'm not a serious fisherman. I hike but I'm not a serious backpacker. And I tinker around the house but I'm not a serious woodworker or mechanic.

So when I see deals for products for them I don't fully understand, I keep my mouth shut.

If you are above novice even at this low end, the performance info crushes your phone and smart watch combo. Spend the money and use cadence, speed, heart monitor. You might even discover you like cycling! If not you can sell it all for about what you paid, bike and all!

Use the light version radar with my phone. I t works well for daily commute. If you ride for long distance, then the computer maybe needed.

I have been saving up for a Wahoo Bolt for awhile now, and I was pretty set on the Bolt over the Garmin 230. This device would be a pretty decent saving, and it looks like there are a lot of comparable features on this Edge 130. Is there anyone out there who has experience with both the Bolt and the 130?

I'm a pretty novice bike rider, and I really just want GPS, speed, and time with a good battery. The workout feature looks like a neat feature on this 130 so now I am feeling back on the fence.

Edge 130 battery life is laughably bad, I'm not even kidding. Maybe 30-40% of the claimed battery life. It's like Garmin purposefully gimped it.

Kills the usefulness fairly quickly. That alone, the Bolt should be superior I'd think.

Speaking of battery, the battery on this model of the Varia is half that of the one with the light. This one is 8hrs, the light model is 16.

Damn my Edge 520 just died. Debating a 530 or just using my Fenix 6 Pro. Now this is looking like a decent cheaper option since I never used any of the navigation routing or fancier features mainly just power meter and sensors…..decisions decisions.

One of the best features of the RTL510 radar is both the built in light and the dynamic adjustment of the flash pattern when cars approach (to get their attention and warn folks riding behind you of an approaching car) which doesn't happen with the light-less RVR315.

The RTL510 went on sale a few months ago for $144 and I'd strongly recommend holding off for the RTL515 or RTL510 instead.

Thanks for the reply - very helpful. Yeah they say on the spec sheet 12 hours. So 40% of that would be a big deal. I will keep saving then Smilie

Excellent deal. Grabbing the 130 for the wife. Serious trail riders here and I rock a Edge 520 for the last 3 or 4 years on a weekly bases. Amazing device. I saw someone earlier ask about App or Phone. No no. Nothing beats a cycling computer. It is designed to do what it does. The stuff I ride, my phone would be shatter to pieces on rocks or fallen into a lake somewhere. Garmin can take a hit, small enough to be out of the way, designed to track everything you want o track when you are on your bike from heart rate, to power to mileage, to time and even has a incident reporting capability if you fall off your bike and gets you help.

Agreed. Reviews are clear on this and so is Garmin with the battery life on the 130+.

Avg MPH is somewhat of an important stat. Phone GPS isn't very accurate. The phone GPS with Wahoo Fitness app or also Apple Watch GPS, my average miles per hour is 1 mph slower than my bike computer. I've noticed at stop signs, my phone doesn't auto-stop as quickly as a dedicated bike computer.

I ran a usb cable to my bag w/ power bank. I can understand how some people will not want to do that. More benefits though; map, tracking, ect..
