I went to Hamer Toyota and they had balls to mark those up 3k plus 1k gps add-on. Came to $56.5k with no negotiation because stimulus money is here and dealers wants it all. Sad state

Hydrogen Fuel cell is exempt from CA rebate income limits.

"The income cap applies for all eligible vehicle types except fuel-cell electric vehicles."

$15000 debit card is only good for 50k miles worth? Even 20mpg cars will need half of that cost for gas. Not to mention most cars in similar size go 30-40mpg. Never been to hydrogen station... Is hydrogen that expensive?? Like 2-4x gas price.

Electric still hasn't beaten out gasoline and we've been told for decades now that we'd already be driving vehicles.
Not true, things change. It was about 20 years ago that GM said there is no future for the electric car based on their EV1 experience and because of cheap fuel forecast for the next 25 years. GM got the cheap fuel right but look how wrong they were about electric vehicles. Even recently before the election GM was hesitant about EVs now with a new president they are on board and fully committed with EVs . Technology changes....our future will be BEV and Fuel Cell vehicles

Buying and leasing is two different things

In the market for a new car. Waiting for a good discount on something that I'm going to enjoy driving rather than some tiny eco car. I get some people are into these things, but it would seem like driving around in a tuna can with wheels.

Last week got hit by a school bus. Smilie Yep, a frickin school bus. They were getting ready to do a practice route before school started back up, and the bus tried to go around me two lanes over and get into the turning lane. He ended up pushing me forward with the side of the bus, so now I have school bus yellow paint all over my bumper. Smilie

1. There is chip shortage so new car production is impacted

2. Honda and Toyota just announced stop or limited Usa production this year

3. This lack of cars drive the demand for fairly used car 2-3 year old to high. Used car price has been adding up.

If you are in the market for new car, used it will be hard this year. It's based on black book report. yCA Youtube channel can tell you more about it.

Don't know where you live and most of Americans live in country side with plenty of cheap gas and wide open roads. Prius might not be the best this there, but city folks like me hybrid cars been looking really attractive to me. I'm actually in LA BUT owning a fulecell car with limited station seems like a gambleđźš—thete aren't that many in even LA AREA

This is my calculation as well, but to be fair the fuel car isn't really worth $15k but about half that due to the high cost of hydrogen. I'm hoping the price of fuel comes down over the next few years as more hydrogen cars hit the road.
Totally agree. Let's hope H2 prices will eventually come down.

This is actually a good time to get a new car. A lot of the dealers will be trying to clear inventory because of taxes. Might make a move at the end of the month when the sales peeps are going for quotas. Was actually looking at a Toyota 86 earlier. Think I would go with that over a hydrogen cell car.

Don't buy if you live near Coalinga, CA. There one station there and the next closest one is 100+ miles.

CON: It is expensive to fill up. It is as expensive or even more than gasoline.
CON: Extremely limited fill up station.

There is no real advantage besides less pollution.

That's a great deal! Definitely more mainstream/versatile.
For me the extra $15K in fuel card and having fueling options near me tipped it in Mirai's favor. If I count the fuel card value, my cost is ~$8,500 after tax financed at 0% for 72 months.
This was my math. Reality is that the efficiency so far has not been up to 72 MPGe (closer to 55). So count the fuel card as about $10K in equivalent value to an ICE.

It's about a $12.5K re-badged Lexus with free financing.

No brainer for me as a city driver when I live near a hydrogen station. Bought one over the weekend. Pretty great for the price.

Yep, definitely a risk.
I live along the 60fwy and am looking forward to the Shell Hydrogen station to open up:
2600 Pellissier Place, City of Industry, CA 90601
They're currently in permitting.
