I went to Hamer Toyota and they had balls to mark those up 3k plus 1k gps add-on. Came to $56.5k with no negotiation because stimulus money is here and dealers wants it all. Sad state

Hydrogen Fuel cell is exempt from CA rebate income limits.

"The income cap applies for all eligible vehicle types except fuel-cell electric vehicles."

Why mock someone for poor writting skills? That's not nice. You are so insecure.
Hydrogen can be made using renewable energy so it doesn't benefit "BIG OIL".

Am I mathing wrong here??

50.5k - 20k Toyota Cash - 4.5k CA rebate - 8k fed rebate is a total of 18k before tax and fees.

How is OP getting 22k?
Your mathing is fine...that price includes taxes and registration.

It's nothing really to do with the media. Media has been far more negative towards Tesla, but Tesla seems to be doing fine. It's more of the fact that hydrogen just isn't a great idea. The footprint of running a hydrogen station is fairly large ( https://twitter.com/CMDRArchadder...4162817029 ) and quite costly to serve. Electrolysis is extremely efficient, not even counting transporting the fuel to stations.
People who think the future is hydrogen see ammonia (NH3) being pumped to stations using existing pipelines and then converted at the station using solar.

Hydrogen owners. Do you have to wait 10 minutes for the station to refill/compress the gas if someone just refill their tank right before you? Thanks
I've only filled once, but I didn't have to wait at all after someone left.

I would consider this for a cab or uber or something, otherwise who is going to spend $15k in fuel in two years? I don't know how expensive hydrogen is but the equivalent in gas is like 37,500 miles a year for a 20mpg car.
If you buy it, the card is good for 6 years. That about 8,000 miles per year of free fuel.

At 0% interest, inflation means the payments in 5 yeas will be 10% less.

Interesting to see that Toyota has gotten some incentives to keep this idea alive. Because dollar for dollar, no one is going to uncrown the king of cars now--the Tesla model 3. They've replaced the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry as the commuter car in the Bay area as you see them everywhere.

Toyota should have just kept their GTV turbine car alive:

The idea of having maintenance is what is a non-starter for me on anything other than Tesla. I think the only thing I've had to do is fill up windshield washer fluid. It does need tires, but that's my own fault for driving it that way. Big Grin

I think it's better to lease this. The new Mirai is really good, has Lexus LC chassis. Also has 400+ mileage, enough for non stop SF to LA.

I have 2019 Mirai, 0 due, $350/month before tax credit. $15,000 fuel card and 21 days free rentals.
So after everything it's like $220/mo (very rough estimate).

I am in NorCal Bay Area and sometimes there is hydrogen shortage for sure. There are plenty of stations here, at least 1 station in 15 miles all directions. A few stations have liquid tanks that hold up thousand+ kg. And they are building more hydrogen stations so I am sure the production will catch up.

This is definitely a sweet deal for people who live in either of those cities. I'm sure the car is very comfortable and a nice drive. It is a great commuter car. Hydrogen fuel cells have never been a good option and have been a push from the fuel industry as an alternative to purely electric. Because their foundation is an electric vehicle, I wonder if there's any way to replace the fuel cell with batteries and turn it into a modern electric :-) I have a feeling that they are way too complex today to do such a thing but it'd be really cool :-)

the catch is hydrogen is not catching on and you can't fill up anywhere. I was waiting and waiting for one of the "planned" hydrogen stations to open near me and eventually gave up this year and bought a plugin hybrid instead.
100% correct. It costs $3 million to build a single hydrogen fuel station where electrical substations are in every single town and it costs much less to add fast DC chargers on highways, rest stops and busy locations. Also, most people charge electric cars at home - no need to drive to any kind of station.

Re leaving: HP left (Sears Roebuck of tech), Tesla expanding & Oracle changing a nameplate. Newsom will never be recalled, too many gotchas in that process. Per capita welfare recipients, CA is not even in the 10 of welfare states. CA is #32 in state federal dependency ranking. Electric prices are high, to the point it warrants pv. Taxes are high. Home prices are great for the HO, esp if you grew up here. Net ~100k leaving is statistically insignificant. Most people merely moving around the state.
California has the highest amount of food stamp recipients- 3,987,751
California has the highest number of homeless at 53% of total US homeless
California has the highest overall tax rate.
California has lost many thousands of companies and jobs https://www.hoover.org/research/c...-thousands
California has highest gas/fuel prices
California has the 2nd highest home prices (after Hawaii)

Regarding Newsom recall: we recalled Grey Davis and hoping we can do it again as it will be on the ballot this summer.
High home prices = higher taxes, fewer buyers.

Time for Toyota to put hydro stations in every medium and big city and then cut price on this mirai in half again. then itll be slick.

"can" but it won't. It would be made by companies that produce natural gas. The math does not work out when hydrogen is produced from water via electrolysis.
