I went to Hamer Toyota and they had balls to mark those up 3k plus 1k gps add-on. Came to $56.5k with no negotiation because stimulus money is here and dealers wants it all. Sad state

Hydrogen Fuel cell is exempt from CA rebate income limits.

The Federal Tax credit isn't assured. You only get the benefit if you have 7,500 in taxes due. It also doesn't carry over. So, if you can't use it all...you lose it.

Your mathing is fine...that price includes taxes and registration.
Tax is based on the price before incentives, credits, and rebates. If the car is 50K then the tax is about $5K...so start from $55K and then deduct the all the goodies.

I bought one this week. There's a chance you can get get it less than what I negotiated for $49K from the $52.5K MRSP. Of course this is before all the crazy incentives, credits, and rebates.
  1. XLE
  2. Advanced Tech Package
  3. Cargo Mat
  4. Wheel Locks

This car is one of the best cars that I've ever driven. Make no mistake, the hydrogen fueling is a huge compromise for a great car at an amazing price. Just know what you are buying and willing to compromise on.
This site is called "SlickDeals" and not really a place to debate about which technology is better/worse, stupid/great, etc. We are just sharing the deals out there for those that are interested.

Not all deals apply to everyone, especially this deal where it only applies to California and HI are the only two states that have publicly accessible hydro fuel stations in the US.

If I were living out of California, I wouldn't even waste my time looking at this deal. If I hate the idea of compromising to change how I use and fuel my car then I would ignore this deal, maybe even spit at it. I just wouldn't waste my time going to to deal to bash it. It's a excellent deal equally excellent to the Chevy Bolt 3-year lease deal than could be had for $1.5K - $6.2K depending on the incentives applicable to your situation: https://slickdeals.net/f/14894620-2021-chevy-bolt-for-4600-one-pay-in-california-4600

California has the highest amount of food stamp recipients- 3,987,751
California has the highest number of homeless at 53% of total US homeless
California has the highest overall tax rate.
California has lost many thousands of companies and jobs https://www.hoover.org/research/c...-thousands
California has highest gas/fuel prices
California has the 2nd highest home prices (after Hawaii)

Regarding Newsom recall: we recalled Grey Davis and hoping we can do it again as it will be on the ballot this summer.
High home prices = higher taxes, fewer buyers.
CA has highest population and total food stamp recipients is irrelevant to your previous comment, should be per capita to which CA is below many states. I already agreed high taxes. High home prices are great. That's not an indication of low buyers, in fact the opposite of a buyers market. My home is up 4-500k in a 12mo period, very liquid market.

Re cited article, it seems trite. It states 765 commercial facilities left CA in 18-19 then links a Jan 19 article that neither quotes that stat nor time period; nevermind that it's dated the beginning of the 2nd year it cites; dig deeper and notice a paywall behind Dallas Biz journal.

The thousands you are referring to are over a 10 year period dating back to Great Recession. Meanwhile in that same period, CA had the largest job expansion since the 60s; they added 3.3m jobs, 15% of the nation's employment gains. Before Covid SF had the lowest unemployment in the country. That doesn't exactly paint the portrait you're selling.

Given your presumable lengthy stay here, you must be a multi millionaire on the back of CA, am I right? Greedy Glasses2

Fuel cell is $8K and you are correct, you need to make sure you owe at least $8K. FYI, CA allows for 1 EV and 1 FCEV rebate.

Interesting to see that Toyota has gotten some incentives to keep this idea alive. Because dollar for dollar, no one is going to uncrown the king of cars now--the Tesla model 3. They've replaced the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry as the commuter car in the Bay area as you see them everywhere.

Toyota should have just kept their GTV turbine car alive:

The idea of having maintenance is what is a non-starter for me on anything other than Tesla. I think the only thing I've had to do is fill up windshield washer fluid. It does need tires, but that's my own fault for driving it that way.
This is an fuel cell electric vehicle so it has about close to the same maintenance as a regular BEV (Tesla 3). The additional maintenance that needs to be done w/ FCEV is the change of air filter as FCEV actually cleans the air it uses to combine w/ the gydrogen fuel to create electricity.

Tessa has done a phenomenal job of leading the clean vehicle revolution. The market is plenty big for new and legacy care manufactures to join. It's not a winner takes all so plenty of market share to go around. First doesn't always stay on top but we hope Tesla continues to lead and help the entire car industry and us consumers.

We have had numerous complete power shutdowns last year from So Cal Edison and our big one, PG&E.
My power didn't shut off once last year. Wind events largely targeted high risk areas. The organized shutdowns weren't that long whereas Texas lost power for days during freezing weather and water for weeks.

People who think the future is hydrogen see ammonia (NH3) being pumped to stations using existing pipelines and then converted at the station using solar.
That's still wildly inefficient.

Just want to comment on the $15k fuel card. That is equivalent to 69k miles, in three years. So realistically you will only be able to use half of that fuel credit. After the three years you will need to pay ~ $83 per fill up (5 kg hydrogen at $16.50/kg).

I just bought a 2021 Prius Prime for $17727 after tax and all rebates. Rather drive this than a Mirai.
Thinking about getting a Prius Prime too, are you in CA? If so, how did you get it down so much?
