I went to Hamer Toyota and they had balls to mark those up 3k plus 1k gps add-on. Came to $56.5k with no negotiation because stimulus money is here and dealers wants it all. Sad state

Hydrogen Fuel cell is exempt from CA rebate income limits.

"The income cap applies for all eligible vehicle types except fuel-cell electric vehicles."

You can't get the $4500 CA rebate and $8000 federal tax at the same time. To get CA $4500 rebate, you have to be in low income, then you wouldn't pay $8000 federal tax in the first place, you probably paying maybe like $4000 federal tax, then you can only get $4000 federal tax back.
Low income is under 150k?

I own one. Definitely the wrong forum to post this in even though it is truly a slick deal.

The media/Tesla have unfortunately shaped the consensus that fuel cells are have no future and thus, infrastructure has been slow to expand, funding may dry up and go directly to BEV related componentry and of course, sales will continue to slow down.
Buddy, you just made the wrong choice and will end up with something that has to go to scrap. "Funding may dry up" - these are Toyota's cars, Toyota are spending as much money as they want on the charging infrastructure as they want. How much are they spending on it, while we're here? Zero. They're trying to trick state legislatures into paying for the infrastructure with taxpayers' money. Did Tesla do the same thing? No. Tesla paid for 100% of their Supercharger network so far, via raising capital in the stock market or via profit.

Hydrogen was never a good idea from a physics standpoint, as you scale things up and all the fluff gets scraped away from the equations, you are left with physics, and charging a battery from renewable electricity, then using that to turn the motor, is more efficient per mile of car range than creating liquid hydrogen from renewable electricity, packing it into a fuel cell and turning the motor from that.

If you are using the continuation of oil+gas production to justify the cost-efficiency of hydrogen, well, what's going to happy when oil+gas production stops?

Seems like a really good deal to get a brand new car for 8k (including fuel savings) if you have enough of these fuel stations around. Especially so if you need to replace an aging car soon.

Though it really depends on how long those fuel stations will stay open for in those areas. If it can be milked long enough to break even, then totally worth it. It would have to be convenient to fill up for the next 5-6 years. It is pretty deep in the game now and electric infrastructure development is dominating. It is a matter of time until every thing else becomes a second thought.

Waiting for something that runs on Dilithium Crystals besides this old ship in my backyard. Not great in traffic so it's parked for now.

if you can modulate it into electricity you can charge primitive lithium batteries in an electric car

But you might spend $7500 in gas for the same 50,000 miles. In the Mira's case, you are given these 50,000 miles in the form of a $15k fuel credit card. Any other ICE car, you will have to pay $7500 for the gas.
thats so wrong.

Any comparable ICE car to this (an ecobox) will get 38-40mpg.

50k miles of gas us 3500 bucks, even if you pretend that the majority of those 50,000 miles is city it wouldn't come close to your figure. I mean, maybe in the great state of California though. What are you paying for gas now? 7 bucks?

I spent quite a few hours getting signatures for the Newsom recall and if we come up with a solid candidate, bye bye Gavey.

Your name says it all. Elon, cmon, at least try to scrape together some truth. Electric cars are fantastic, but you should stop lying about where Tesla got most of its money over the last 10 years....

"Based on the 2020 annual report, Tesla generated sales that totaled as much as $1.58 billion, $594 million and $419 million for the years ended on December 2020, 2019 and 2018 respectively from selling regulatory credits alone.

That's quite a lot of money from a "product" literally with zero cost to produce."

- stockdividendscreener.com

"Tesla's Main Product Isn't Cars, It's Subsidies
Tesla received $713 million in U.S. subsidies in Q3, compared to its $312 million profit."

- realmoney.thestreet.com

"Tesla also collects hundreds of millions from competing automakers by selling environmental credits in California and more than half a dozen other states to car companies that can't meet the states' "zero emissions" sales mandates.

Plus, Nevada ponied up $1.3 billion in incentives to convince Tesla to build its huge battery factory near Reno."

- investors.com

" In 2010, the company received a $465 million loan through a U.S. Department of Energy program which had funded such impressive energy industry failures as Solyndra and Fisker Automotive. Tesla made a big to-do about the fact that the company was able to repay the DoE loan in full in May 2013, nine years before it was due. However, Tesla wasn't able to repay the loan based on profits from sales; it instead relied on Goldman Sachs to drum up hundreds of millions of dollars that same month by managing a four million share issuance of common stock as well as $660 million in convertible notes. So the company paid for debt with debt. A myriad of other public subsidies can't be hurting the company. These include a $7,500 federal tax credit for purchasing a Tesla vehicle on top of thousands of dollars of income tax breaks offered by a couple of states."

Thank you for your efforts on the recall campaign. While I don't agree with your view of the left/right battle, it's easy to see Gavin newsom is a hopelessly corrupt politician who needs to go.

They have made this car's styling a lot more appealing. I would hop on this deal if there was infrastructure. Even though I see there are a few at a dealer less than 70 miles from my home, I was able to find only one filling station in San Diego county. That's not going to work for me.
Chicken and egg situation. We need to get the hydrogen production and filling station thing going before this deal is a useful one.
