How does this stack up against the EX950 and OG SX8200 Pro? Cliff notes?

They all use the same controller and NAND. The SX8200 Pro is faster, more expensive, and uses more electrical power, see https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/9117/mushkin-pilot-nvme-2-ssd-review/index.html [tweaktown.com] and https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...,6345.html Note that the price has dropped on the Pilot-E since these early reviews. The EX950 and SX8200 are comparable in performance although the SX8200 uses more electrical power. Right now the EX950 and SX9200 will cost between 10 to 20% more depending on the capacity of the drive and who you buy it from.

It's worth pointing out that any of these drives are faster than a SATA SSD, and at these prices the Pilot-E costs about as much as a SATA SSD. Do you feel the need for speed?

I'm sold. It's Not 'Quite' the same performance leap as from HDD to SSD, but definitely noticeable in a few key apps (like Window10, Steam & most games) My boot time went from 15-seconds down to 10-12-seconds (often quicker, even). These drives make VR games load & respond quicker too. Hence why my 1TB is nearly FULL..

DRAM or DRAMless?
Can't decide 1TB or 2TB. i got a bunch of ~250GB NVMe because 2-3 yr ago this is what everyone said you need as boot drive (and 1TB were the price of 2TB nowadays), but now they got filled up pretty fast...
