for this price id honestly rather get a 10700kf, 260 bucks rn, and a z490 will run you maybe 180 ish bucks, so you for 50 bucks less than 3700x bundle, you'd have a faster gaming cpu

i was gonna disagree with you regarding the faster part, but then i read you mean gaming, for which i think you may be correct since gaming is single application. But for all other purposes, including video editing and processing, the Ryzen 7 listed here will be faster and at a significant less power draw (65W vs 125W). The pricing is thus justifiable.

I am astounded every time I read how much power Intel CPUs use compared to AMD (and especially ARM). It's just crazy how bad it is.

dont trust the "tdp" as how much power it will draw, thats not what tdp is. only way to find power draw is real-life benchmarking and testing. Ryzen tdp is very wacky and a 10700kf is able to reach way higher clocks than a 3700x, so it can justify more heat and power. DONT TRUST TDP ALONE TO TELL EFFICIENCY, ITS NOT ACCURATE
How come you described Zen2 TDP is "wacky" when comparing to a 10700K? BTW PL2 spec is for non-overclock. I don't know if 5.1G vs 4.4G is way higher clocks but higher clocks not necessarily mean anything. A Pentium 4 can run at 5G too.

At this price point 10700 and 3700x is a draw. Just pick one makes more sense or you believe

True, but in technology terms next year is not soon.

I am using a 7 years old technology now. Two years old sounds pretty sweet to me.

This would be sweet depending on which motherboard and if you get a good 10700KF and you can get all 8 Core stable at 5.0Ghz with a good AIO cooler.
