EKBACKEN [ikea.com] - Laminate, MDF core, nice designs, 25.625" x 1.125", all edges finished, cut to length; I used 2 of these on my L-shaped VIVO frame and REALLY like it; will be getting another EKBACKEN top for this Monoprice frame for my wife
SALJAN [ikea.com] - Laminate, MDF core, 25.625" x 1.5", all edges finished, cut to length, a bit heavier than the ECKBACKEN and a bit cheaper in price, design patterns as quite as nice as the EKBACKEN (although that is totally subjective)
Hardwood/Butcher Block [ikea.com] - Several options, heavier and more expensive than MDF but still fine for the frame, cut to length
Another option for a top is Husky solid wood workbench tops [homedepot.com] from The Home Depot. They are a reasonable price and can be cut to length as well.
To cut top to length:
Use good blue tape (I'm not a fan of painter's tape in general, but was very pleased with the Duck Clean Release Blue Painter's Tape, 2-Inch [amazon.com] for this purpose) or masking tape all the way around the top where you plan to cut
Countertop should be but top down if using a circular saw (i.e., bottom of the top should be facing up on the saw horses for the cut)
Clamp straight edge in place as a cutting guide, accounting for the saw base and blade kerf, of course; verify that the cut falls exactly where you want it to be
Get a new blade for the circular saw to ensure a clean cut; I used a BAUER 7-1/4 In. 60T Fine Finishing Circular Saw Blade [harborfreight.com] from Harbor Freight on my 18V saw for cutting the MDF top; use an appropriate blade for hardwood if you go that route
Affix edging strip using contact cement; cut and sand edges to match existing; for wood, sand and get stain to match
To affix top to frame:
Place top on ground top up and set from on top (the entire desk will be upside down
Measure for placement, mark holes
Set frame aside
Pre-drill holes just short of 0.75" deep (measure on bit and wrap tape around it to use as a guide) using 3/32" bit
Set frame in place in correct orientation, set top, align holes, attach top with #8 x 0.75" course thread screws for MDF (these are GOOD screws [amazon.com]), use regular thread for hardwood; tighten by HAND with screwdriver (i.e., don't use a drill and risk stripping them out)
Cable management - There is typically a gap between the top and the frame, so I just use VELCRO Brand ONE-WRAP Cable Ties [walmart.com] around the frame to tuck all of the cables out of sight against the frame. Not sure if they will be long enough on this particular Monoprice frame, but I'll post back when it arrives. I also used utility straps to hang the PC, subwoofer, and UPS from the frame under the desk. Inexpensive, looks good (depending on the straps you use), and works fantastic.

Overall it's awesome for the money. One quirk, the touch screen does need a long press to wake it up, but you'll adapt. I love how tall this gets, motors are quiet compared to the cheap adjustable small desk I got for home, helpful when on a zoom call with a jabra speaker phone. I love that there's 3 preset heights, seated, full upright and static hold squat mode.

I set mine up and am getting a error code E11/E21 on the display when trying to reset it. That error indicates the motor cords are not attached to the control box, when in fact they are.
Going on day one without hearing from Monoprice. Not surprising is that there is ZERO information in the manual related to the warranty or who to contact if there is an issue.
I am going to be super annoyed if I have to pack this desk up and return it for a potentially bad control box.
