I've had the blue one for about a month or so and I like it very much. The track pad is garbage, otherwise I don't have much to complain about. Oh, the power button is where "delete" goes so expect to punk yourself a few times.

I like the feel of it, the metal feeling lid helps it not feel super cheap.

I use it for prepping 3d models for my printer, and it's very good at what I ask it to do.

BTW it does charge via USB c despite it saying data only.

Anyone know how to completely remove Norton from this?

I've run Norton's removal tool multiple times but parts remain.

The software suite still shows with the programs in the start screen, but is not when I go to Remove Programs. Nothing Norton is listed under remove programs, but something is still running hidden somewhere. Whenever windows update runs Norton Downloader tries to reinstall Norton. Despite obviously running, Norton Downloader does not show up anywhere I can find to uninstall it.

Right Clicking on the software suite gives the option to uninstall in the popup menu, but that just takes you to the remove programs screen, where nothing Norton is listed.
I just removed it from Apps/Settings and then delete the folders from ProgramData and Program Files. Never a peep out of it again

Came in today. Can anyone who also ordered it in "blue" comment on the color? My wife noticed it's not the "sky blue" color in the original product listing. The one we received is more of a "teal" color. Almost exactly like the "blue" in this link:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gatewa.../225790553

My wife is slightly bummed at the difference in color (she preferred the "sky" blue in the original product page). Not a big deal.

Initial impressions are positive so far. I took a gander at the BIOS and it appears to support NVMe and the RAM is dual-channel. Nice full size keyboard with numpad.

Yes, it is a little darker blue than in the pic. Which I like better. Also bought for my wife.

I bought the thing, got it and am returning it because laptop all of a sudden stopped charging and also tried to get support and THERE IS ABSOLUTELY ZERO support online. Gateway USA web site was last updated few years ago and haven't been touched since. I couldn't even download drivers for the laptop.

I was going to try get a replacement but the total lack of support made me think twice and ask for a refund instead.

Can we buy the protection plan ( accidental)? I did not see it listed on the page when I bought this one. When you look at other laptops they have the option for a plan right on the page.

Memory is soldered, there's a second m2 slot that you can access without removing the entire back.

Any questions on the hardware side I can likely answer, I put linux on mine already so I can't answer anything about how it works in windows.
Can you take a screenshot of the memory tab in CPU-Z? (or whatever equivalent Linux util) Would like to know speed/timings and channel count this is configured as.

Well, That was with 27 monitor, speakers and printer. Now, i got the printer money via rebate. But i needed it at that time and it was ok deal compare of what we get today.
Looks at the SSD prices.. In 2012, I brought one of Crucial ssd from Tiger direct, Paid $179.99 for 128GB and that was after those crappy TD rebates.laugh out loud
I meant you got ripped off because you bought a P4 ... regardless of the price. Those chips were literal garbage (regression from P3s).

Got mine in today. Love it and a great deal. No issues with the touchpad either. I did find a Chinese wireless network that was set to auto connect and removed it.

Poured through the posts here, a lot of comments pertain to a different variant of this laptop. It is now obvious that if you don't have THIS laptop, please don't comment, or speculate. That being said, has anyone swapped the 2280 drive out, apparently it's an SSD, not Nvme. Another post mentioned that the 14" variant, primary slot, did work with the Nvme. Has anyone tried this with this exact model laptop?

Thanks.

Looks like DDR4 2400 CL17 running in dual channel.

Could be better, could be worse... I wonder if memory overclocking is possible with Ryzen Master.

The bios appears to have support for NVME in terms of options that enable it. However the spare drive that I have hynix nvme sc300 512GB SSD could not be seen by bios in either slot. I didn't spend too much time troubleshooting it and I do not have another spare NVME drive to test atm. It is an older drive that is not the most supported so it might play a role. I also would like to know if anyone gets NVME SSD working in this laptop and which model.

Frankly m.2 upgrades may be cheaper option for cheap laptop but I like to get my parts future proof in case they can be swapped into another machine in the future. I happen to have an old SATA crucial m.2 MX300 525GB so I replace the included SSD and it worked fine.

BTW I got two of these for my kids and no regrets. Probably going to pick up one more if they come back in stock. It is low-mid range Gaming laptop for $350 which is hard to imagine. My kids are playing Minecraft Java edition on it right now and it runs very nice on it.
