I've done it twice now. Both times they delayed my shipment every month. My first order took 5 months of delays before they finally cancelled and gave me a crappy 10% coupon that expires in June. Everyone on reddit knows not to bother posting these dell builds because dell doesn't ship. They simply take your payment information, add you to their mailer list, sell your information to other companies, cancel your order and enjoy the profits of their farmed mailer list of people who want the latest technology.
Dell is trash tier right now, hell I'd even trust Newegg over Dell when it comes to 3080 products, and that's embarrassing to say.

I didn't pull the trigger though. It does help to reference purchase ID's. I did not have one for the above configuration. I found it a few pages back but without the ID we went back and forth for a while. I asked if I could think about it. He gave me his email and direct line. I'm not convinced this is the best price for this configuration let alone the one I need!

Yes, I really dont see why people would buy this system for mining. Considering mining profits might reduce after few months and considering tax implications, it would be years before making any significant gain.
Rather I would assume probably buying a 3070 system for $1200 (if your intention is gaming purpose) makes more sense.

Depending on how much you spend on your GPU (initial investment) and the current payout rate (coin value) will determine how profitable it is to mine. Or said differently how quickly your ROI is. Also realize that different crypto coins have different market values and thus also determines if its worth mining or not.
Many miners treat an ROI window of 3-4 months to payback your investment as a good deal in the current environment (again, subjective to coin market value). Some might extend that timeframe longer. After your recoup your investment in that period, then the rest you mine is all profit (minus the cost of electricity.) Of course there's some level of risk that you need to accept if mining is the only reason you are buying a graphics card/system given market price fluctuations of coins and payout amounts. As an individual, Bitcoin is no longer profitable time mine. But Ethereum is still profitable to mine. The general thinking is that if Ethereum becomes not profitable to mine as an individual, then there's another/next coin to mine that will be... hence the growing interest in mining.
Another answer to your question is that some miners are mining and choosing to keep their payout fees in coins, with the hope that particular coin they are holding will increase in value. (eg. Bitcoin is an example... 1 coin use to be valued in $100s/$1000s... and now it has appreciated to close to $60k). But like you said, there's always the chance the value of a coin goes down and not up and ruins this strategy.
And as you noted, there are also plenty of people buying a GPU for gaming (or other non mining reasons) and want to mine on the side as a way to recoup some of the costs of buying a GPU/computer. You're not going to get rich mining on one card, but $50-200 a month payout isn't bad either.

2. It is very possible we will see 6-figure BTC price by the end of this year, which means today's profit will be multiplied by x2 or x3. The cost of 3080 card will be returned in 4-6 months.

Frankly, now is an amazing time to buy a gaming PC. Even with eip1559 around the corner, gpu mining should still be profitable enough to cover the cost of your entire system within several months. Any profit made beyond that is just icing on the cake. Absolute worst case scenario, you could just sell the PC and take a a few hundred dollar loss.
But like it has been stated previously, Dell is 🚮.
Then he had to check on a few things, and came back saying sure. But then there was an issue with the standard warranty and he said he had to add it or I couldn't purchase it - which was +$100. So I went for it.
Delivery is "on or before April 19th"
Is getting the KF beneficial or not much gain from that? Think it would be about 70 less otherwise. Thought it would be... but see most people just going with F variant. TIA
