Is the 11700k big jump from 11700? I think it's like 100$ price difference?
one you can overclock (K) and one you cant..... depends on what you want.... for me its worth $100 more so I can tweak it.

Just curious, and not denying what you've posited, but are you running the stock config? Reading a lot from folks saying the whole case runs hot in general if you don't add an exhaust fan, and ideally replace the front intake with a better one.
This is my 3rd R10 I've purchased, but my first with a 3080. The previous 2 were with 3070's, and they run great. Have had absolutely no problems with airflow. With the 3080, I ran stock out of the box configs using Phoenix Miner just to benchmark it, and it crashed on first use. Any PC build will benefit from more airflow and upgraded fans, but this is definitely a case of poor thermals inside the OEM 3080's.

These CSRs ask way too many unrelated questions, and are taking way too long to build a simple quote. Literally been 30 minutes in chat, and he has asked me what I want this desktop for (gaming duh), what games I'm going to play, how long I'm going to keep it. Jeeeesus, cut the crap and give me the price already.
Car dealer sales tactics - engage with the customer for as long as possible so they will value their time over their money and just give in to a higher price.

My order was also cancelled due to "billing". The hold went through on my card with no issues, but apparently Dell will call you later to "verify" the charge and release the funds from a hold to a purchase. I guess this is something they do when you give your credit card over the phone. I'm not sure. In any case, I missed their "verification" calls, so they cancelled my order.

I chatted with them again to resubmit my order, but they said that the first order did not have the warranty and that in order to repurchase, they would need to add the warranty. Maybe this had something to do with the cancellation? The warranty only added $12 to the total and they gave me free overnight shipping, so I agreed, and they created a new order. Shortly after that call I received a followup "verification" call, and I answered it this time. They told me that they would go ahead and release the funds (aka process the transaction). Currently the order shows as being in the "Confirmed" stage. Hopefully it doesn't get cancelled this time.

These Dell machines are great! My Dell i9 3080 R11 arrived yesterday.
Out of the box, not the best.. when mining, it was about 106 to 110 degrees on the card memory. But as long as you are willing to put in an hours work, you can turn these machines into a nice experience
1. I modified the GPU to include paste between the two metal plates. This has brought the GPU memory temp down to 84 degrees.
2. Replaced the front fan with an Artic P12. It fails on bios, but just escaped out of it, still boots fine.
3. Adjusted undervolt settings with afterburner. See attached pic.
4. Set a custom fan curve for the top stock fan in the Alienware app. Sort of a balance between keeping things cool and jet sound mode. I have a replacement fan for the top, but I didn't have time last night to complete as that looks more involved.

Result - around 99 MH/s with cool temps of 48 on the GPU and 80 on the Vram, 233 watts.

The PC will mainly be used for gaming for my sons, but it will crunch in the background to help with the cost of the unit. The PC represents good design for its size in my opinion, and there is no way I could have built one myself as elegantly with the cable management for the price and time involved. These Dell units represent reasonable value and I don't foresee any heating issues as reported by the masses. Just FYI in case you are on the fence.
The R11 arrives mid April, and will rinse and repeat the minor mods. Have fun with your builds everyone! See pic.

Purely a fluke but I ordered 2 of the minimum specs (i5, 8gb ram, 1tb hdd, 1000w psu, air cool, 3080) and got it for $1756 each + tax. Unfortunately this order needed to be done manually (i.e. no perksatwork points, no cashback) but felt happy with the deal and confirmed yesterday!

Also - how is the bloatware on these systems? Is a new windows install recommended?

It looks like Nvidia planned to release 3080 TI next month with better specs. Do we need to wait?

I was able to get it to 1600 and change thru mobile order but did not pull the trigger I kind of regret it but I jumped on the 1660 ti dell build for 720.00 today.
