I'd tell you exactly what the problem was and what I did to fix it, but alas, I didn't do anything else to it other than let it sit there.
However, I *think* the pump somehow needed to be primed. so it's *possible* that if you were to fill the tank (again, water would be easiest) and then sort of lift that hose inside the tank until it's facing up (it has an upside-down "U" shape to it normally) you might be able to get water down into the pump faster.
But again, that's just my guess.

To get it working. I took the tube out and flushed water down into the pump and it eventually started going. Works great now!

Price sticker for this below an empty slot on the shelf. Brickseek shows 15 in stock. Inventory system (phone) says 14. New model has 4 units right next to the old one and 2 more visible on the top shelf.
I couldn't find any looking around, so I caved and asked for help.
The guy agreed with me that 15 is an awful lot for inaccuracies in inventory. Punched a few buttons on his handheld and walked me over to a shelf 100 ft away. There is a fully wrapped pallet of them sitting on a top shelf. He's getting them down with a forklift now.
So I now have 10 min to sit here, type this, and debate getting 1 or 2.

Let's just say "I have a type." And although I'm happily married, I'm also not blind.
Shortly after I got mine and headed to the counter, I passed a woman that, well, she was cute and my type. I noticed her but didn't feel like I stared or anything. But as I passed her, she stopped me, which of course set of all kinds of alarms in my head like "was I staring?" or "am I somehow busted?"
Point is: I was flustered, so when she asked me "excuse me, what's that?" I didn't quite know what to say or how to react.
Turns out she's the local Ryobi rep to HD and was asking about the sprayer. We talked for a bit about it (once I stopped babbling and got my wits about me) and she said she was surprised to see me with it because she thought she'd sold the last one the night prior. I told her they had an entire pallet of them and they got one for me from there. She thanked me and said something about going to make sure they were displayed properly.
So yeah, based on her reaction as well, I'd say they weren't planning on shipping them back at all.
