Ryobi 300 ft-lbs vs. Craftsman 275. Anybody have any real-world experience?
Looking for something to leave in the one ton, 8 lug old Ford truck.
I bought the craftsman open box a while back and have been happy. I use it to rotate the tires on my Tundra every time I change the oil. I still don't think I have charged the battery after about a year or maybe longer.
It cracks the lug nuts off just fine and hasn't let me down yet

My experience with a P261 Ryobi isn't good. After using it a couple of times on mower blades, I then used it to break 4 bolts loose on a bumper in order to install a hitch. Believe they're torqued to 146# and had a blue thread locker on them from the factory (new Ranger). By the time I was done, the motor was arcing badly enough to shoot big sparks out of the back vents. And sometimes it doesn't want to run. Took it back to HD for warranty work and was told I have to pay the upfront fee while Ryobi decides if it really is warranty work or not. Calling Ryobi CS was of no help.

Do you this same impact wrench to put back the lug nuts on ? Does this stop after it feels resistance ?

I believe the 275 lb/ft is what they rate tighten torque, you shouldn't tighten lug nuts with impact wrenchs. Break away torque tends to be a little higher for impact wrenches, but I could be wrong with craftsman. Regardless 275 lb/ft max torque is still over kill lug nuts, unless you're working on semi. I can take out lug nuts just using dewalt dcf887 just fine.

If you read the threads I linked above, you'll see plenty of people that are quite satisfied with the Ryobi to balance the one negative experience posted in this thread.

Both should be suitable for general home and automotive tasks, but which line are you, or do you want to be, invested in?
