It's a great deal if you're in the market for a prebuilt and don't need a dedicated graphics card. You're getting a pretty good processor, dual channel ram, and a decent amount of storage. The only issue I see is if you decide to add a dedicated graphics card down the road, the 260w power supply limits you and will probably have to upgrade that as well.

If you're not going to play graphic intensive games this is a pretty good deal. In my opinion this is is slightly better than the Lenovo that's been on sale at Costco for $500.

This is a fantastic processor for Matlab. For a integrated graphics it is quite capable. For me it is enough for Civ6.

The 4700 G falls in the middle of the Min and Max Civ6 requirements.

I mainly play Civ6 and use MATLAB for computation. Sorry to bother you, may I ask if this is a decent build for the usages?

Personally I have no clue about either but you can look at this video [youtube.com] to get an idea how that integrated graphics would handle gaming, sorry I couldn't be more help.

You definitely should have a dedicated fairly powerful graphics card for Civ 6 IMO, iespcially if you like playing the larger maps with many AI civs.

I am impressed by the performance on those games. I think I am covered. I really appreciate your time and effort to pull this link out. Cheers!

Thanks for the comment. I mainly play the small map with 6 players. Do you think this is a reasonable budget build? I came to the point my 2014 MBP cannot handle the game anymore, so I am looking for a budget game build for a transition period until I get my hands on M1X MBP.

Although the processor is 420 or so right now, I feel the 4650g is the better value buy at about 250. Even if you value the processor at around 350 for what it should cost, 50 for the ram, 25 for the SSD, 15-25 for the HDD, you're at like 450 and you are paying just over 100 for the motherboard, PSU, case, optical drive. Real nice deal on a warrantied machine that looks professional and can be put anywhere in the house. With the current price of GPUs these machines make more and more sense.

it's curious that they are selling it for $6 less through newegg
https://www.newegg.com/lenovo-90q...klink=true

Also, I'm probably missing something from the pictures, but does the front panel *slide* to expose the optical drive - meaning that all peripherals on the front panel would need to be unplugged to insert or remove a disk? That would be such a ridiculously bad design, that I am assuming I am misinterpreting what I'm seeing ...

I mean front panel stuff is for temporary use. And how often do you use an optical drive lately. My main concern is lack of displayport.

Ryzen 4700G APU is more than enough to handle Civ6. I think 4700G is faster than AMD HD7950 which ran games like crysis, skyrim, Total War, etc.
