Yeah I would advise some caution with Grainger. Ordered the Dewalt chainsaw deal a couple weeks ago. They canceled the chainsaw portion of my order but shipped me the battery for some reason and charged me the full amount. Returned the battery to them still waiting on a refund. Complete b.s. to cancel part of your order that was technically one item didn't add to the cart as two separate things then only ship one part and charge the full amount.

Is the flexvolt battery required (or highly suggested) for this thing or can it run on a regular 20v 5ah? Curious about buying the edger and selling the battery. Thanks!

This is a 60v tool so FlexVolt is required.

Seeing the sketchy Grainger comments made me hesitant to grab this but I'm lucky enough to have a branch near by and saw that they will let you pay upon pickup. I chose that option so if there are any issues with them filling it, at least I haven't paid.

Nice deal if you have FlexVolt or want to get into it. I went with EGO since they have been in the outdoor space a bit longer on the high power tool side.

I will say, it is very frustrating that DeWalt is so conservative with their tools. It feels like they only make a tool once a bunch of the other majors do it. Why did it take them this long to make an edger?

That's the old version. This tool isn't even a year old. The motor of this is located where the battery is not down the shaft.

This is far better that the one you have because of the universal tool attachment feature. It means you can turn this to a hedge trimmer, chainsaw, cultivator, tiller, edger etc.
