My split level (with just a 2 people) I find to be the perfect use case for the motion sensing. My downstairs is 2-4 deg lower temp so it's nice that it kicks on when we go down there
Sounds like the perfect fit then. With kids, or walking into a certain room for a few minutes, we just ended up activating them all throughout the day when we didn't need them. Then they would either stay active for longer then we needed, or go inactive if there was no movement (napping).

Yep it's nice with the ecobee because you can set which sensors respond to the movement, and also set that based on a schedule. The app gives you just about as much granularity as you'd need in a home in a good software setup Smilie

We actually moved to ecobee from Nest, when we sold out last house. New one didn't have the c wire so ecobee was the easy solution. I do however like the remote sensors, (Nest didn't have them at the time) but overall I like Nest better. One of the biggest things I would look at in my nest thermostats was the daily runtime. Ecobee doesn't appear to have that on the device. That was a huge feature to me.

The app tends to glitch on me, showing my sensors on the wrong floor, but refreshing that usually fixes it. I also wish geofencing worked better.

If we used the follow me mode our usage would increase drastically.

It does, but it's impossible to use on a mobile device. Been waiting for them to add that info to the app or device, but hasn't happened yet.

I tried but they told me that since it's straight from the manufacturer that they wouldn't.

I was able to price match to Bestbuy.com, thankfully since I had some rewards that were expiring.

Thanks!

I have a bunch of these or the older model. Definitely good for monitoring the temp in different rooms or excluding rooms during different times or days, but the motion sensing isn't great. My kids would be playing Xbox for long periods and the motion sensor wouldn't see movement and the room would get hot. We had to stop using that feature.
