You can't split a 4/8k signal and carry 130 watts on the same wire. That'll take another redesign. Hopefully one day these guys will combine fiber and copper into a standard. But power requires a special cable, and power + signal ain't a thing yet.
For DP 40gbps 4k/8k data, external gpus have giant ass brick power supplies plugged straight into the wall, as an example.
Dell, as another example, is already breaking usb c power spec by doing 130 watts on their XPS lineup. They purpose built the cable so it wouldn't burn your dick off and burst into flames. So, that's where we are. The willfully incremental, so you pay more for shit tier tech, treadmill.
If you think engineers and CTO's don't know what computer power or data requirements are needed now, or 5-10 years from now- and how to design it, you are a being overly trusting and/or simple. This shit tier tech is how they bleed you. And it's the same reason why your car engine is older than your great-great-great grandmother.
I lay mine on a wireless charger when I use the dongle if your phone is capable of that.

Make sure you have thunderbolt 3/4, USB 4, or USB 3.2 gen 2 or gen 2x2. If not, then your device doesn't have enuf bandwidth in the USB C port to make this happen.

Why won't they ever make one of these that also has a charger input?! Anytime I'm hooked up to a monitor, I almost certainly also want to be charging.

is it normal for this type of dongles to get hot? I bought this same one (USB C to HDMI) and it gets pretty hot 🥵 it is connected to a MacBook Pro 2019 16" to a 27" 2K Dell Monitor (also from previous deals)
Does anyone know what the Input lag is like on this device? I bought something similar that includes Charging capability to use an old android phone for playing games on the TV put the input or display lag was terrible.
