Awesome deal at $15 per TB. This was a Front Page Deal earlier in the month, should be again. Perfect drive for shucking.

FYI, they jacked up the price about $20 before the discount, so this is about ~$20 better than normal price. Still a great deal though

great deal, really hoping for 14tb at this price point or even up to $200. Yeah that would be a slightly lower per TB deal but I value the density.

Nice price, the 14TB's $190 haven't shown up for a while so this is second best if you need space.

I know that these drives require the 3.3v fix pin. Does the QNAP also requires that as well?

I don't think synology or qnap support the pwdis feature(3rd pin power disable) aka it should just work.

For everyone else, just get a 4-pin molex to sata cable, or tape up pin 3.

So everyone only ever talks about shucking. Is this a decent drive to just hook up to a network via a router? or is USB 3.0 too slow.

Spinning disk hard drives are slower than the usb 3 xfer speed. 150 vs 600MB/s. If it was a fast ssd, different story.

I just moved away from Synology NAS to Mac mini and DAS (Direct Attached Storage). I just hook these directly to the Mac as is. I do Plex and SecuritySpy for surveillance cams.

Works fine. The limiting factor will be the router itself, since they don't have the most powerful of CPUs.

Well it appears the 14tb is evasive. Usually u want that at $90 when it comes around. If u need 12tb it's not bad just thought if u could wait that's what everyone is waiting. Hasn't shown up since Thanksgiving.
