If you want a serious mat for weights or other workouts you can get 6'x4'x3/4" horse stall rubber mats at tractor supply for $40. I have a few of them under my power rack and bench for weight training, work great. Obviously you can't really travel around with those mats though. lol

Hah, look at that scale. Is that guy under 4' tall with size 5 shoes"??? This is a nice deal. Horse stall mats are a lot thicker and smell. This would lay nice for flooring in a basement.

Just a FYI I did the exact thing, but I had to return them. I put them in my garage, but the strong smell of rubber was just too much to take, I got a terrible headache and could not finish 1 full workout before having to stop.

I tried putting them under my kids swing set, and even outside you can still smell the rubber. Maybe my tractor supply got bad ones, but that was my experience

Yoga mats are generally not great for heavier workouts (squats, deadlifts). 7mm seems fairly thin and more sturdy like the horse mats. I may buy and just return if it's too soft. Hmm.. Great price!

it takes at least a week to get rid of the smell. its almost 8 years now since i had them not a scratch. love the horse stall mats

u can leave it out in the sun but dont stack them to get rid of the smell

I wouldn't use horse stall mats. I tried with 8 in my basement. I let them bake in the summer sun two different times. I scrubbed them with a natural cleaning agent and I waited over three weeks and nothing changed. The smell was horrible. It wasn't just a normal tire shop smell, which I don't mind. It was just horrible I think it is the way horse stall mats are made. The ones I tried were from Tractor Supply and made in the USA, but they were a no go for me (maybe I just got a bad batch). Thankfully Tractor Supply took them back without a problem.

a week? lol. mine is at least 1.75 years old now and still reeks. decided not to use it for weights so it's going under the 220V air compressor as a vibration dampener.

As others mentioned the horse stall mats. They are easy to cut to any size or shape with a razor blade of even a sharp knife.
