Darn. I just bought this for $144 on the 13th. I wanted a harddrive for my PS4 games to play on my PS5. Eight TB is the highest sony will let you format.

Decent deal if you have the reason for it.

This or WD easystore for $10 bucks more? I have owned both brands in lower capacities and no issues with either.

These aren't promoted often, worth the pick up now if you're on the fence

I've been tracking these and $15/TB is the deal point from last BF. This is an ok deal if you need it, but I'm still holding out for $120/8TB.

WD for me all the way; I've only had sesagates fail on me.

My Google-Fu shows this as an SMR drive. Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) is not suitable for RAID and suffers lower write speeds because as data is written, it has to be "shingled" with other data that overlaps on the track next to it.

Warning, Seagate 8tb externals are SMR. Western Digital 8tb externals are still CMR. For my use I'd rather wait for the WD to go on sale again.

This isn't a great deal at all, WD easystore are much more reliable and are frequently $10 less than this deal. Shuck them and get reds or equivalent inside..

I will go for WD. All my Seagate hard drives are slower than WD. For example, transfer my Ripped BDs from my PC, my 3.5" WD easy stores are all about 190m/s, while all my Seagate expansions are about 100m/s.
