I read online that the controller lacks some things you can do with a phone/tablet. And, other than tieing up your phone while you fly, I'm not sure what benefits it REALLY offers. I also have an old iPad Air 2 laying around and have a tablet mount arriving today from Amazon. Maybe I'll stick to what I have :-)

First time buying DJI products..
I purchased this combo from DJI a few months back for around $1250, out the door (has some discounts/coupons), and I thought it was a steal, then! This price almost makes me want to buy it again. lol
The Smart Controller is worth it for the convenience, and the display is super bright and easily viewable, even in the brightest sunshine. You can also get Play Store on, easily, and have your other desired apps for flying, live streaming, etc.
I also highly recommend this hard case for this combo on Amazon: Lykus Titan MA210 Hard Case for DJI Mavic Air 2 Fly More Combo and Smart Controller - $79.99
Comparable cases are much more expensive and some do not even have as much space and customization as this one. This case also can carry the standard (Mavic Air 2/Mini 2) Remote Control - it sits under where the Smart Controller goes - it is slick. This case holds everything and more. Unbelievable feature set for the price.
