Probably silicon based vs wax based "wax".

Idea with both is to let water bead up and fall off the car, taking with it any dirt and such from the rain rather than sitting on the paint and eating thru it (acid rain).

Both are sacrificial - wears over time.

...

How long they last depends on your environment and car paint.

..

As for glossiness, which is totally separate from water beading, I still personally prefer Meguiars Gold Class liquid applied with a rotary buffer, hand buffed with a microfibre cloth.

For an average shine, this spray is fine on newer cars where the paint hasn't worn dull.

I'll take free. "Ceramic" or not, beats nothing. Thanks OP.

This is the first time I ordered with same day delivery. Door dash delivered it and I submitted the rebate. Hope the rebate comes thru.

Anybody treating this as a Wax replacement is missing the point. This is not a real wax, this is a detailer. It's meant to keep the car shiny between wax jobs or for spraying on your show car after you drove it to the meet and want to get that shine back for a little while.

The "ceramic" part is likely more of a buzzword used for marketing purposes than anything.

This is great for free and there shouldn't be any complaining. Use it or don't, it's pretty simple.

I doubt it is silicon based, as silicon is sand and that would serverly damage any car's paintjob. It is more likely that it is silicone based which is like a synthetic oil that sticks to surfaces well, but repels water.

I tried Aquapel once. It definitely lasted longer than Rain X but did not repel water as well as Rain X. A freshly applied Rain X just flings water off better than freshly applied Aquapel.
Was it the Aquapel in the winged applicator, and was it ordered direct from PGW? I can't speak to the other Aquapel-branded products like the sprays, and Amazon apparently can't keep the counterfeits out of their binned inventory.

I use Aquapel on the windshield and Rain-X everywhere else. The beading is exactly the same, but the Rain-X wears off sooner.

Sorry to hear that. My experience using the Rain-X windshield fluid and/or additives on and off is that I've never had a problem in 25 years.

Never had a chance to use any other of their products, though
Yeah I think his story and anyone else with similar stories either did something wrong or the system clogging was coincidence. RainX wiper fluid is the ONLY fluid Ive used in the last 15 years. I go thru probably 10 bottles a year, maybe 20. Used in things as old as a 1979 Buick Regal up to as new as a 2012 Cadillac. Never once had an issue of any sort. If it makes a difference, the orange RainX that is like $2.50 a gallon at Walmart (or twice that at a auto parts store) is the stuff I get.

People like to take their anecdotal experiences with zero hard evidence as gospel and then hold a grudge for life, while forever spewing baseless hate and rumor like theyre the messiah.

Any other uses other than a car?
Glass shower doors. Water beads right off and makes cleaning so much easier. Smilie

I used a $5 speed perk reward coupon. Did I just waste my coupon?
