I picked some of this stuff up for cat urine in my carpet and it didn't do anything except put a scent over it.
Basically the equivalent of spraying air freshener when you take a huge dump in the bathroom. Makes it worse.

In my experience, it's more for eliminating the scent than it is treating the stain. You might still need something else for the stain. For your other question, the cat version is the same formula but higher potency.
It does seem to work decently well for cat vomit and hair balls. Used it once for dog pee too and it came out. You need to thoroughly soak the area, wait half an hour, come back with a wet cloth and rub out the stain, then blot it out with a dry cloth. I think skipping out on rubbing doesn't break it up as much and skipping out on drying it will leave a water stain on your carpet.
