If you read some reviews, it looks like this company is horrible at honoring their offers. Some people complain about not getting their advertised promotion gift cards. Not worth the potential loss in $50 in my opinion.
However, if they do give you the $50 back, solid deal.

Just tried activating mine - Nope - no time credit so stopped the activation and will wait 72 hours - but this seems very iffy to me...

I'm guessing the confusion is the fact they mention "device" multiple times in the conditions/instructions. In this case, the SIM card is the "device", but that's not overly clear.

You can also get 5,000 Simple Mobile "rewards points" (good for $50 of free service) if you use a referral code. Points can be used after 60 days. Existing Simple Mobile customers like myself are not allowed to share our referral codes on SD so you would need to find a Private Method (outside of SD, of course) to obtain a referral code from an existing customer.

Yes, only new phones have 5G bandwidth which is much faster than 4G bandwidth. Your phone has 4G just like my S9/S9+. This sim deal should work as it states "4G and 5G compatible". Got it to test out how bad the T-Mobile signal in my area. 🤣

Are you buying for family/friends or multiple devices? The sim has to be activated before end of May - I have a mint plan expiring may 20ish so this works for me.

I guess if you can get nearly 3 months out of this with a single device assuming your current plan is expiring today or you are ok with cutting it short.
