I just bought the 10TB model from Amazon, a week ago, for $189.99, now it's on sale for $38 less.
Normally, I don't get all uppity for a price drop, but $38 for something I bought a week ago was rather annoying.
I contacted Amazon customer service chat, and asked for a partial refund, since I just bought the item a week ago. At first, they stated they don't price match their own website, and since it was still in the return window, that I could return it for a full refund.
I told them that I'd rather keep it, since that was counterproductive. Then they looked into it more, and stated they would give me a one time partial refund for being a valued prime member.
Amazon should start a price drop refund policy, similar to what companies are doing for Black Friday price drops. For instance, if an item drops 5% or more within a 60 day period of purchase, you can be eligible for a price difference refund. That's a hell of a lot cheaper than somebody returning an item, and buying another one just to get the sale price.
I know you are kidding, but for those that will truly ask that.. yes. I have 7 of these in a RAID 6 for media. My last two from this exact item on Amazon. It told me as such when I clicked the link to buy another one just now. I buy another each time they get this low and put it in as a hotspare. Then I end up needing to enlarge the array and I use it up, and buy another hotspare. Not gloating, more admitting my sickness. I've gotten to where I can open these without breaking any tabs now! :-)
FYI, B&H has the 12TB drives on sale for $180, which is slightly cheaper per TB than the 10TB drives. I also didn't have sales tax at B&H, so turned out much cheaper than Amazon.
Amazon has WD 10TB Elements Desktop Hard Drive HDD, USB 3.0, Compatible with PC, Mac, PS4 & Xbox - WDBWLG0100HBK-NESN on sale for $151.99 with free prime shipping.
