Normally, I don't get all uppity for a price drop, but $38 for something I bought a week ago was rather annoying.
I contacted Amazon customer service chat, and asked for a partial refund, since I just bought the item a week ago. At first, they stated they don't price match their own website, and since it was still in the return window, that I could return it for a full refund.
I told them that I'd rather keep it, since that was counterproductive. Then they looked into it more, and stated they would give me a one time partial refund for being a valued prime member.
Amazon should start a price drop refund policy, similar to what companies are doing for Black Friday price drops. For instance, if an item drops 5% or more within a 60 day period of purchase, you can be eligible for a price difference refund. That's a hell of a lot cheaper than somebody returning an item, and buying another one just to get the sale price.

In the meantime just repurchase the new one, then when it comes in do a refund of the higher priced one and send the one you got last back in its place. They dont check serial numbers and what not so its the best way to get that difference.
You can try contacting and sometimes get someone who will do the partial refund, but that's few and far between and IMO its just easier to repurchase it at the cheaper price and request refund on the higher priced but return the last one you got.
Also its certainly not cheaper as the returned product is likely to get sold as used (or returned to the manufacturer for a full credit to Amazon), compared to them paying someone's hourly salary to answer and process your refund. Now can they automate that and it save money....I think so, but I am no web UI dev lol
