After some use your whetstone will develop wear, usually a depression in middle or sloping to one side. It needs to be flattened to correct it.

After paying Amazon their cut and shipping charges with still some profit left, wonder what wholesale cost actually is?

Nevertheless, it seems like a good deal in comparison to what is out there. I have paid similar for a single stone and that was without the flattening stone.
