Thanks for posting OP! I've been waiting for this deal to come back.

To all the newcomers to the Ridgid line, don't forget to register the batteries online for the Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA). Some folks assume the lifetime warranty is automatic -- nope. No lifetime warranty unless you register WITHIN 90 DAYS of the purchase date.

Octane batteries are only supposed to be noticeably different when paired with Octane tools.
To be clear, all 18v Rigid batteries are supposed to work with all 18v Rigid tools.
I have the Octane saw and I cannot make a full depth cut on a non octane battery but the Octane battery makes the same cut and doesn't stall.

Ship to home available from most MN locations.
I already have too many batteries but it's a decent deal

I love the $257 suggested retail. What nonsense

Great deal! Note these are not Octane.

Edit - these are the new version of Ridgid's "standard" batteries (thanks x_workman_x), to go along with their new generation of tools.

I want to get into Ridgid. This seems like I should buy this 2pk 4 this and get a bare tool to start. Is the octane series a noticeable difference? Thanks

I can't make a direct comparison since all of my tools and batteries are Octane, but I am very happy with them. I think in most casual homeowner cases, the non-Octane would be fine.

I heard they are going to discontinue Octane and replace it with Max smaller in size but more power.

Good deal for 8ah. I don't need more batteries, but if you do this is best I've seen in a while. The older batteries struggle in the cold more than Dewalt and Makita, but Ridgid advertises temp rating so maybe they have solved some of those issues. Someone with experience with the se newer versions can chime in here.

I got this deal 03/04/21. If you are into the Ridgid ecosystem then this is a great deal. The best part is these 18v batteries are compatible with the old Ni-Cad 18v battery tools. Even though Ridgid will replace 18v Ni-Cad batteries if you have LSA, these new Lithium batteries have more amp/hrs, are lighter and are smaller. They breathe new life into your old Ridgid Ni-Cad tools. I received my LSA confirmation for this kit yesterday, 03/30/21.

True. Octane line is done. That being said octane brushless with octane does create some more power but even without octane batteries they're plenty powerful and will not make or break getting the job done.

Holy cow, you're right. I thought the charger looked different. If you look at the battery indicator and button, they are clearly different than the outgoing model. Also, the release buttons on the new batteries are all black; old batteries' are black and orange. Thanks!

If you are not in a hurry, you can get a smoking hot deal like I did in November of 2020. I bought a three tool compact combo kit with a charger and two 2.0 Ah batteries with LSA for $199. I returned the free tool, an impact wrench that I don't need, and netted out at $117 and change. So for $117 I got a compact 1/2" brushless drill and a brushless driver with two 2.0 Ah batteries with charger and LSA. That beats every other brand I know of.

Do you guys think the new batteries that replace the Octane ones will work properly and deliver as much power to the Octane tools as the current Octane Batteries?

The Megamax console doesn't work well with the normal 4 AH batteries. When under hard use, I've had problems with it faulting out. I was drilling holes in a thick slab of concrete that really was taxing the roto hammer. Had to keep removing the battery and putting it back on to reset the fault. Once I got the 6 AH Octane, it cut the holes with no issue. I don't know about any of the other Octane tools as my non-Octane are working fine.

I will say that the Ridgid Megamax system is incredible. The sawzall attachment makes it into a beast the likes of which I never thought possible. With the amount of power it brings to the table, the blades hardly get hot, cut fast, and don't get hot. It was never really marketed, and they only ever carried it in a few stores. It's a shame it didn't catch on.

If you were interested in Ridgid, you should probably start with a drill set, though.

Ok so from what I'm seeing, it seems like the new Max batteries will replace the Octane ones, and will still provide at least as much power to the Octane line of tools, is that correct?
