I like these, but other versions are rechargeable and can be run from a power bank. Batteries essentially make these more expensive., not to mention the environmental cost.

I own these. Perfect for strapping on the front and back of a kayak for 360 lighting when kayaking at night. Believe it might be a requirement in Massachusetts. But I like the added safety even if it's not. Rechargeable would be better but can use rechargeable batteries.

I like these, specially because I can pop in my one of my dozens of rechargeable batteries on a moments notice instead of having to wait for them to recharge., not to mention the exercise benefit Smilie

I bought a pack of these, not sure this brand, couple years ago. Over time the springs became weak and wouldn't close all the way. Leaving the light on and running the battery's done. Only con I found with these. Awesome useful light overall especially during Boy Scout camping season!

These look identical to the ones harbor freight basically gives away.

I purposely avoid rechargeable ones.
lantern like those are useful for camping or during power outage. they would otherwise be unused for month at a time. having it rechargeable means you may run out of power when you need them the most, and you cannot top them by visiting a store and buy a few more batteries.

you can buy rechargeable batteries.

that said, this is not COB. just go to amazon and buy the COB one for a few dollar extra. the brightness between a COB and non COB lantern is very significant

edit. it is actually cheaper...

Chargeable Battery technology has improved vastly since. I bought led chargeable emergency lights, they hold charge for months lost only about 20% from peak. Btw, regular alkaline batteries do leak after a few years

Normal price is 4.99 https://www.harborfreight.com/250...64110.html

sale for 3.99 https://www.hfqpdb.com/coupons/2546_ITEM_250_LUMENS_POP-UP_LANTERN_1616193073.2807.jpg [hfqpdb.com]

But I wouldn't buy them even at that. They're always ending up in the dollar sales or free back when they had coupons.

The ones from woot are a little different but I'm not sure I trust their claims about 12 hours of light. On the actual Amazon listing it says 'Battery life lasts over 90 hours'

Something just doesn't add up here.

I have these spread around our vacation rental. Still going strong after 4 years.

They are cheap enough that I can replace them if they grow legs. Also they are cheap enough that none ever had!

12 hours if you turn it on and 90 hours if you don't? Smilie

I have no idea, but prefer rechargeable, or rechargeable lithium batteries.... and with a USB port would be great to use solar or tool batteries with an adapter.

HF ones claim 250 lumens.
Vont claims 140 lumens.

not attempting any argument on any other factor
