I wouldn't buy any smart device that doesn't have a dumb mode. If an app is required to use it and the company goes out of business you might get screwed.

I was able to get a Gen 3 16 zone brown box from Rachio via my local water company (Elk Grove Water) for $80.80 after taxes. Rachio applied the discount to the purchase, no rebate forms.

freaking awesome. I LOVE my 3rd gen and will be using this for drip and beds only... SO easy to change timing and everything. to get a refurb for almost half price. love it.

As long as the drip zone is turned on/off with a sprinkler valve, then yes. When you define the zone it asks you what kinds of sprinklers are on it to understand how many gallons per minute it is using (rotors, fixed sprayers, drip, bubblers, etc...) You can set all kinds of info about the zones like the type of soil, what vegetation (grass, shrubs), how much sun it gets, and let the system figure out how long to water each zone based on your climate from your zip code.

I've had a gen 1 and a gen 2 since they both came out and they work great.

I bought Q-See security cameras four years ago and they went out of business a month ago. Costco told me that they can't help me out. I asked whether they can give a me a discount on a security system that's currently on sale on Costco website. I rarely returned items so I'm not abuser at all. I didn't push it but if the item is expensive then it's a different story I think.

I just got the delivery and they sent a Rachio 3E. I don't know if I should raise a fuss or just accept it. From my 2 min google search, in general they look pretty similar but the 2 has better weather control than the 3e. Thoughts?
