At least Dell finally updated the photos for their "Special Edition" XPS 8940 to show the "special" white case you'll get.

Just an FYI: on a budget of $1000 we recently completed my buddy's brand new build with an EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti

We did end up a little over as we went to BB for a 3 pack of quality Corsair fans which added another $43. It was an afternoon of assembly as it was his first time and I wanted him to learn it all. It powered up on the first try and is a sick rig

Introducing custom parts (or used if you want to save more) means 100% of the parts available in the world. Comparing this specific build list of parts to their individual prices will mean nothing as nobody would choose this list it's chosen by what the manufacturer could source in bulk and maximize profits on
Do you have a config that you built to? Have similar budget....also any sourcing info would be great...

Not sure why all the hate for the SD extension. Do people get upset at Rack-u-ten? You don't have to use the extension, but you'd miss out on the 2.5% cashback. 2.5% actually happens to be higher than the aforementioned other cashback site currently anyway.

Also Slickdeals is a business. They make money when you purchase through their link. There are costs to running the site. Are you going to pay that out of your own pocket?
Slickdeals is a business and, as a business, they have many competitors. Their competitors who offer cash back do not require you to install an extension, order using a desktop/laptop only, or jump through all the other hoops to earn cash back.

Until Slickdeals figures out how to simplify the process, like their competitors, many of us will continue to do what we've been doing for years... come to Slickdeala to find the deals, then buy through another cash back site.

The people who run Slickdeals need to get their heads out of their a$$ and join the rest of us in the year 2021 or they will control lose referral dollars to their competitors.

I think a click through is much better option than an extension. As soon as you have extension being used then it has way too much permissions on what actually can be collected via that method. I am not saying that SD extension is like that but just saying in general extensions is a lot more invasive than a click through portal. Hopefully some techies can comment on what actual informations is shared or is available to the SD extension.

Nice..do you have a build guide? Have a similar budget myself.
Sure. I can dig up a sketch here. It did involve being able to go to the launch at a microcenter on 12/2 to get the card that's kinda the lynch pin of the build. And I regret the $30 case since $25 more could have gotten us the Corsair case on the fp but that's what dynamic and custom parts lists are for. This was our framework

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory
Storage: *Kingston A400 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING iCX3 Video Card
Case: DIYPC DIY-A9-BK ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: *EVGA B5 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Some stuff is harder to get now some stuff easier. Or so I'm told. Budget builds are all about not being too married to any particular item unless you see a sale and pull the trigger to build it later. That part drove me nuts. 4 months of slow acquisition is not my jam. I rake it all in at once which is probably dumb lol idk

You'll have to ask your mom first for her credit card before you worry about that.

The graphics cards are the real problem. Here in Dallas people started lining up at Microcenter at 7 PM last night for a 10 AM opening... they got 12 whole cards in today so at least half the people went home empty handed.

Dell Engineering Department: We can use the liquid cooling, beefy power supply, LED lights, ample space for expandability, etc. etc.

Dell HQ: Maximize how many we can fit in a pallet.

Result: Custom micro PSU. Crunched microtower design for Alienware. flat cpu fan. Clusterfobe of a design. Fake plastic pedestal for Alienware to make the tower look full sized. No system fans. Single fan GPUs.

Sorry to hear. For the 3060 Ti launch we got there at 8:45 and they had hundreds. Anyone there by 10:30 walked out with one. There was a few campers that just wanted a guaranteed FE

And some 3080s on the shelf too everytime I went in the morning. Launches are tricky but clutch. They announced it close to the wire but the rumor mill actually helped us prepare as it was right before they confirmed it

I got the i7, RTX 2060 Super deal from last week. Overall it's a nice compact gaming PC in a bland tower that looks like it belongs in an office. It also doesn't have an intake fan, and there's limited space to upgrade the cooler, which many on the Dell forums recommend doing. Due to the proprietary shape of the PSU and motherboard it wouldn't be very easy to do a case swap either without significant modifications or replacing those two components. I'd assume this configuration would have no trouble running most current games, albeit running a bit hot

I must be an idiot, but I can't get the code to work. Is this system preconfigured or do I need to customize the build?

Any help would be appreciated.

This code : DTXPSAFF45 I cannot get it to work no matter what configuration...even the same as listed. There must be something missing.
I was able to get it to work by clicking on this page's 'See Deal' link. The price that comes up for this Dell XPS is $1,439.98, but once I add it in the cart and 'Apply the coupon code' provided it drops it down to $799.00 before tax. Unfortunately no configurations are allowed. If you add the Slick Deals extension you can get an additional 2.5% cash back but it states that it won't show up as Loyalty points until 30-60 days after purchase.
