Ridgid just refuses to offer anything other than big, bulky, heavy and fugly looking drill drivers.

Ridgid user for 15 years, farm/commercial. I agree with another comment that, in my experience, most cordless tools fail due to batteries or bearings/triggers, etc. My very first brushed drill was sent in a few years back under the LSA for a bad bearing, and was replaced with a new brushless model. I imagine that eventually all replacements under the LSA will be brushless. So in regards to this deal, the casual user/homeowner will do fine with brushed Ridgid tools with the lifetime warranty.

If I hadn't of got started with Ryobi, I might have jumped on this. Project Farm say just ok things about Rigid, in general, but for a DIYer, would probably be fine.

But as others have said, please do not buy ANYTHING that doesn't have a brushless motor, IMHO

Likely no. The peak torque of the impact driver is about 145lbft. That would get some wheels off but not reliably. Then again, that isn't what this tool is meant for.

agree with comments, I've burnt out motors on at least two ridgid drills of the non-brushless variety. Have never had that issue with brushless drills.

What specs I have to look to get a reliable impact driver to change tyres? I heard that being 18v was enough, but I guess is a little bit more complicated than that...

What you really want is an impact wrench, not an impact driver.

The Ryobi one often goes on sale for $100: https://slickdeals.net/f/14874811-ryobi-one-18v-cordless-3-speed-1-2-in-impact-wrench-kit-with-1-4-ah-battery-charger-and-bag-99-free-shipping-home-depot?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

When I click on the same link it shows "18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless Hammer Drill and Impact Driver 2-Tool Combo Kit with (2) 4.0Ah Batteries, Charger," for $179.00. The batteries are labelled "Hyper Lithium" 4 Ah batteries. However, after looking closer at the HD site, it also says 11 in stock at my Las Vegas store and is NOT available for an online purchase. Psharkauburn's great suggestion is not available everywhere. So, you are right, YMMV.
I'm sorry but your car changing tire comment is wrong, and I don't want people to be confused like I used to be.
This is a common misconception and is easy to get confused.
Impact Driver vs an Impact wrench.
Those are two VERY DIFFERENT tools.
Impact driver is measured in inch pounds (In/lbs). A Impact wrench is measured in foot pounds (Ft/lbs).

For example, this deal includes a impact driver that provides 1,750 in./lbs. which is converted to 145.8333 Ft/lbs.
In comparison; Ridgid's weakest sub compact impact wrench delivers 2700 in/lbs converted to 225 Ft/lbs
The Ridgid's strongest impact wrench delivers 18,000 in/lbs which is converted to 1,500 Ft/lbs.

Just remember, you would use a impact driver to "drive screws" into a deck (pretty much any screw going in to a lumber material like wood), You would use an impact wrench to "wrench" on your vehicle (pretty much any medium machined screw into a machined bolt, metal on metal)

Before I knew any better about this, I tried to use my impact driver to take some small M8 bolts out of my dirt bike that were Loctited on, and it would not break them loose. I used my hand wrench and it came off easy. And I was having difficulty assembling some screw as well, so that led me to research what was wrong. Now I know better.

An impact driver is not going to do any good with changing your car tires. But it will drive a 8" Lag bolt through a 6"x6" pressure treated wood on your deck like butter compared to using a normal drill. and Vise Versa, an Impact wrench will take off car tires, or remove that rusty bolt, or put that lag bolt into concrete, but it will not do a good job assembling 1000+ screws on your deck boards.

I'd take a stronger look at https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGI...c0pp1iW3s0

It includes the brushless tools instead of these older brushed models, and has 4ah batteries instead of 2ah. I'm a big fan of the Ridgid ecosystem and tools, just that $40 difference gets SUBSTANTIALLY more value.
Can hammer drill be used as normal drill/driver too?

Yep, they have a toggle switch to enable/disable the hammering action. You only need to use the hammering feature on masonry/concrete, but it definitely makes a big difference in those cases.

You meant impact driver is not going to do any good with changing your car tires. Right idea, just a mistype I'm sure.

Need one 4 AH battery for powerwheels ride on car, but it costs almost $90 with battery and charger. Is there market for selling these tools on FB marketplace without batteries?

Yes, but I don't think it's that great when dealing with standard tools like these. If you need a powerwheels batter I would suggest getting a SLA batter and a power wheels plug.

I don't know that those examples fit your exact toy. In my case I bought a wire like that then used a battery I already had.

I am looking at Lithium batteries for quick charging and ease of storing/carrying the batteries . Also, 18v as upgrade over 12v.
