There is a dashboard at the registration site that makes it really easy to check the status of your registration: https://register.ridgidpower.com/dashboard

Where they also offer chat, a phone number, and email option to quickly fix any registration issues. As long as you submit your registration on time and check to see that it successfully went through, there should be no "horror stories".
Yet many complain about getting denied a warranty.

As I said, in my case I had an email that indicated my application was complete yet it wasn't. I went into this being aware that I had to register right away and all that. If I were to do it again I wouldn't have problems because I would know that I need to triple check etc. I think people have issues because with many products the warranty requires little more than just having proof of purchase. Most people don't expect to have to repeatedly log in to verify Ridgid accepted all the submitted information. Ridgid could easily fix a lot of these issues if they sent a simple reminder email saying that the submission isn't complete. That would prevent people like me, who thought they submitted everything, from getting surprised later.

I would purchase these tools again but I will also caution anyone buying them to be VERY vigilant with respect to the warranty.

Most of those complaints are pretty old. The process has become much more streamlined over the years and any issues with registration are now quickly and easily rectified.

Perhaps it was improved after my experience. I don't recall when I bought this set but it was pre-COVID.
