It was so nice and helpful until the end. Why be snarky if you've already taken the time to find the info for a total stranger?
What's the point of joining this knowledgeable community, if we are only gonna send people to Google?

I get that it's called "Slick Deals", but there are far more benefits to this site than just saving money.

I can't speak for the person you were replying to, but even after I already searched Google, I often check in with this community because I trust the information from this community.

When it comes to CERTAIN TOPICS, I trust the knowledge and expertise of the people within this community far more than the random results found on Google.
He's being snarky cause he's sick of people asking questions (like syeb did) they can find the answer to just as easy as anyone else, a la as mrtye did.

You all think someone knows this info off the top of their head, possible, but come on, at least try a little.

I picked up the Feit color smart bulbs from Costco at 2 bulbs for $10 a while back, They're decent, but not as bright as I'd like, especially using color, and they will occasionally disconnect. I just received my order from Wyze (4 bulbs, $40 with shipping, but they are not in stock currently) https://wyze.com/wyze-bulb-color.html. Definitely brighter at 1100 lumens vs. 800, with 90+ CRI, but I just got them, so I'm not sure what issues will pop up in the future.
Ok. Thank you for making an actual, fact based summary instead of lying like that kid about how mine had no name or needed cloud computing or whatever nonsense

Hands on is important. I've also heard people want Thread or Apple support and scoff at 2,4ghz band legacy devices. To each their own but those will run even more expensive at at least $24 a pop

Know your needs. For mine the TECKIN ones work great! Zero issues. And I saved a bundle (wait did I just say the name? Oops. I thought it didn't have a name hurr)

Personally I keep all of these WiFi-trickle devices on old WRT54G's that I repurposed as Access Points, double-NAT''d behind my primary router and they've been just fine. No load on my primary router/WiFi and just simplifies the network overall.

I think your concerns are valid as some routers have hardware limitations on # of connected devices. Using old 2.4GHz routers as additional access points was my solution but there may be others.
Crazy that old tank of a model is still actually useful these days. been using a pair of them to get internet to our shed /backyard for 10+ yrs, lost one to lightening RIP wrt54gs v3

The reason I'm asking is the FEIT colored ones that I got from Costco a month ago would not be supported as part of 1 switch. They would just keep on blinking after configuration.
Any smart bulbs should not be switched off, they should essentially be powered all the time. You should never turn them off, except through the app or voice. I have ZERO direct knowledge about this, so you're probably better off doing a Google search, but it MIGHT be that if you turned them off for a long amount of time, they lost configuration, maybe? I had two of the Feit color bulbs in one fixture, and never had an issue other than I think twice they lost connection. And I just turned the fixture off then on, and then turned them on in the app and they reconnected.

If you have a lot of wifi devices then it is better to get lights requiring a hub so you do not overload your router with a bunch of lights. Newer routers have increased the devices but most of the time when people lose reception on one or more lights it is due to wifi issues

This is a router issue though.

Some routers require separate SSID's for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks whereas others use a singular SSID and auto-steer the device to the proper radio. There is also a client max for the 2.4ghz network and some routers cap this around 40-50. I have 48 different connected devices in my house and a mix of 2.4 and 5ghz but each of my access points can handle up to 200 clients.

Yes, for instance ATT fiber providers you a router which has a common SSID for both bands. Sometimes it's a pain to pair devices which connects only to 2.4 band.

I had been shilling wyze for a bit these days here. But I'm tempted to order their color bulbs. Offer better spectrum (1800k vs 2500k) these bulbs offer. Also brighter, like you said - 1100lm. This means, when you dim it, it goes down to 30lm at 2 Watts to 1100lm at 75w. BTW they are available 2pack for 27 on Amazon, shipping on April 14. I picked up 2 two packs as I am so happy with the power switches. I can definitely find a use for them in my home...being a disabled person it is so convenient to turn on a light with my phone!

I've only had them for a day, and only tried one so far, but easy setup, and the brightness across the colors is very noticeably brighter, a little less noticeable through the whites.

If you didn't need the ability to change the colors -- why would you opt for this rather than a kasa smart plug (for example) so that you could control the light fixture and use any bulb?
Depends on your lighting setup.

Bulb benefits - color, temperature and dimmable
Plug benefits - can move around and control different items.

I use smart bulbs where I have free standing light fixtures not controlled by a switch, smart plugs where I want to control other things (i.e. wax melter, xmas tree lights, etc.) and smart switches where I want to control fixed devices (ceiling fan, in-wall lights, switched outlets).

Simple questions you google. If you still have questions then you ask. It saves a step and clutter. That follow up question is coming no matter what and is the one most people will appreciate being answered. Most importantly, it's just pure laziness so it's par if you get snarky responses back.

Keeping the thread nice and clean is good. Multiple pages of responses often leads to comments not being read and same questions asked repeatedly.

Are there concerns about putting a ton of IoT devises onto home WiFi? At some point i think it might start to interfere with priority if not utilization, and of course the possible security issues. How much to these "talk"? I have a feeling it's more often then when you send a command or request status....
I've been trying to stick with devises that work with Smartthings for that reason but perhaps my concerns are excessive/unnecessary. Looking for input from someone in IT.
I abhor Samsung even though the Smartthings system is quite nice. I also abhor using hubs that require you to connect to them but the Z-Wave protocol is definitely more secure. That said, the biggest concern with IoT devices that are wifi only are exploits of said devices and they do exist. One of the main reasons I don't recommend these fly by day chinese devices on amazon that everyone here seems to love. They are the worst culprits.

Your best option is to isolate your IoT devices to their own network and use proper firewall rules to minimize your vulnerability. All of mine are on their own network, firewalled properly, limited in bandwidth and can only use certain ports for one way communication. None of them have access to my main network or other networks in my setup.

I have a couple of these but they might be older models. Pretty cool and I like the color wheel, I just wish they were brighter. Integration with google home works but sometimes it thinks the bulbs are off or not connected and I have to power cycle the lamp and the google home thing. I blame that on google home, half the time that thing has a mind of it's own anyway.

But you don't have to use a bot, the phone app works great.

Pay more now for quality network equipment so you don't have issues down the road. I paid $380 for a good quality network setup 4 years ago and it has been rock solid since day one.

A couple of days ago, I got these 4-pack Sylvania ones. There is a clippable $7 coupon which brings the cost down to $28 for 4, i.e., $7 each. They are CRI 90+ and tunable from 2700K to 6500K and over color spectrum:
